Personally I think they're good people.

However they can be quick to defend their religion as a whole, without necessarily knowing the facts.
I'd respect them more if they admitted to the many problems their religion has, and actually tried to solve them, rather than claim its all a big Western conspiracy fuelled by the Jewish media.
Or if they just packed their religion in; I'm sure they'd be just as nice as people.

Definitely:

If you hear the word "Islam" and can only think of 9/11 -- PLEASE READ THIS:

I have recently received an e-mail from a good friend (and Trappist Monk) and I'd like to share some of his words:

"I have also had some great experiences with . . . Islam (worshipped regularly with Muslims in Malaysia for the better part of a year, and in Pakistan when I was there with the UN, and I know well that their Koran, like our Bible, has many passages that are open to a wide variety of interpretation). I have found that at the center of all religions, the core reality is the same: LOVE -- those who have a deeper understanding of their religion (as many of the "fanatics" do not) recognize this. . . .

At the time of 9/11, I was teaching here in China, in the city of Baotou in Inner Mongolia, and I sought out the chief Muslim imams of that city, and we prayed together for peace and brotherly love for all. For me, this is where it's at. I share all of this with you just to let you know something of me and where I've walked on my life's path."

I hope that this can inspire other people as it has me.

I judge a religon by the things the people do who are in that religion. When I read the news about women being lashed 200 times for being a victum or 40 lashes for naming a teddy bear? It causes me to have very little respect for the people who would do such things. I was always told that beating women was done by men who had no religon and were from Satan.
I keep reading stories of abuse to women, from Canada to Minisoda. They treat women badly and it is hard to respect a man who beats his children or his wife.
It has caused me to have no respect for that religion.
It was not muslim extremists who beat those women. But the mainsteam men who are so abusive.

Honestly, I have a real hard time with men telling women how to dress, so NO, I do not respect Islam at all.

I have a deep respect for true Islam, and those who follow it.

When practiced with an open heart and commitment, Islam is an amazingly beautiful faith. Islam teaches to surrender to God's will completely, to feed the poor, to show compassion and faith.

How can one not respect that? Peace be with you.

I respect Christian Muslims that have converted from Islam to Christianity.

Islam is a dangerous, false religion and I do not wish for it to increase in my homeland which is the USA.
