"If your right hand makes you stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to go into hell." Matthew 5:30

If that is true, how come more people do not have their hands chopped off for doing wrong, or their tongues chopped off for speaking against the Bible?

Won't you go to hell if you don't?

go through the BIBLE and look at the passages that talk
about the "hand" or the " foot " and you will see that these
words refer to man's will. I don't know if it's always ,but clearly it uses these words allegoricaly.
and trying to make this work literally makes no sense.
cutting a body part off doesn't stop sin.if sin is still in the soul
it will find expression in many ways
we should pray that GOD cuts off our sinful will and replaces it with HIS PERFECT SINLESS WILL.

Ok so... let me break it down fo ya sister..

As the bible has said .. "If your right hand makes you stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to go into hell." Matthew 5:30

there is a lesson being taught here.. a lesson that basically says, if there is something blocking you or if there is an obstacle that is preventing you or distracting you from following the ways of the Almighty God, then move away from that path/obstacle/distraction.. Do wat it is you have to do to get rid of that whatever. even if it means cutting it off. for example, if it is your hand that is causing you to do that thing that is preventing you from doing God's will, then cutt your arm off. In the long run, when you are being judged, it is far much better to enter heaven with just "one arm" than to burn for ever with all your body parts intact...

The distraction to most people may not be their arms.. it may be something else.. i believe more people are trying to work on cutting off their obstacles to try and be closer to the Lord God who is our Creator.

God Bless

Passages in the Bible are often misinterpreted. It does state that in the Bible, but it does not literally mean "chop your hand off or you're going to Hell". Chopping your hand off would be a sin in itself. It simply means turn away from sin, and it would be better to lose something so valuable rather than commit that sin again.

Because most Christians know that it is not a body part that makes them sin, it's the use of the user that makes a sin. Going a little deeper than that, the sin nature that all humans possess makes them sinners.

Because we live under Grace and not the old law
and we live in a free country where we can repent to God
for our sin,s and not man.

Yeah, we think Christians are one eyed, but that's exactly what the bible commands them to be.

Mark 9:47
And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell,

because the bible is outdated
i think its funny how the religious will throw out old scriptures because they are outdated.
like how my moms old church would not let her get a divorce from her alcoholic abusive husband because it was a sin.
but now since you see divorce more often...... its ok

Christ was crucified, died, buried and resurrected for my sins.
I believe in Christ Jesus and He took my sins away.
