It depends on the strength of the immune system and what antibodies are present in the blood stream to attack the cold virus...actually a cold lasts about ten days, symptoms normally last about a week, but it is still contagious for a few days afterwards.
I have heard that zinc, Vitamin C and Vitamins A strengthen the immune system to fight the cold virus faster.
Try some zinc losenges..

A cold is a virus usually; lasts about 7 days. Unless you have infectious symptoms, you usually don't need antibiotics. Symptoms can sometimes be lessened by Vitamin C (1000-2000 mg daily), Zinc lozenges or chicken soup.

A normal cold is always seven to ten days long.. But if you get a secondary infection, and it moves into your chest, such as bronchitis, you can feel sick much longer. Get bed rest. stay quiet, and warm. Keep nourished. Drink juices. And hot chicken is the best!!.. aspirin, and cough medicine are good too.

usually 1 week, eat lots of oranges, cantelopes, cherry is very high in vitamin C especially if orange is too harsh for you. Drink chicken broth soup, drink lots of clear fluids and get loads of sleep. If you have to work then take non-drowsy pain and cold n flu reliever, ask your pharmacist.......and leave the meat for a week too.....stock up on veggies

Typically it lasts about two weeks, but if you go to a doctor and take some expensive medication, you may be able to get over it in fourteen days.
