Yup, I've been to Badaling (too crowded), Mutianyu (very nice section, less crowded than Badaling), Simatai (nice section), and my favourite section at Laolongtou. I would like to see the western section in Gansu and in Hohhot, maybe one day...

I have seen it from a number of places while driving through the mountains and have climbed it in three different areas. Two north of Beijing and where the Great Wall meets the sea. They call that part, "Old Dragon Head". The three places I climbed were very touristy and were all rebuilt sections of the wall. The next time I go, I'd like to go to, "The Wild Wall". This is unrebuilt and rugged. I think it would be a blast to hike it and camp over night.

Oh, yes, millions of people have been to the Great Wall of China, but I do not happen to be one of them.
Interesting fact. Did you know that the great wall of china is the only man-made object on earththat would be visible if you were observing the earth from the moon.

Yes, December last year, At Badaling near Beijing.
You get to marvel at the extent of the construction and durability of technology and workmanship of ancient times.
Some places are so steep, you wonder how they constructed it in first place.
Give yourself at least 3 hours or more to spend there if you want to take a climb/hike.
Get good flat shoes as some places can be quite steep. Also quite cold and windy at end of year if going at that time.
Avoid the roller coaster looking train ride, as it is slow, boring with lousy view, not to mention not cheap.
There is a cable car which you may want to go as it gives good views.
There are some stalls and shops at entrance area selling stuff, but bargain as their asking price is almost always way overpriced.
I must say it is one of the things that is a must go.

Yes.
I have traveled around much of China. The Great Wall was a fantastic day trip. I highly recommend it.
PS
It can't be seen from space.

I did earlier this year. I chose the area farthest from Beijing because it has less tourists and was recommended. I am from Texas and believe that it is one of the most impressive things I have ever experienced. You cannot describe how impressive it is with words or pictures. Everyone should plan to visit and, if you are Chinese, I cannot imagine not going. You will not be disappointed.
