i hiccup every single day, not like a case of hiccups but just singular ones every once in a while. i started counting them becasue they were so many, and the most ive had is 59 singular hiccups in a day. and at least 20 every day. i used to only hiccup sometimes but the past 6 months its gotten worse
does anyone know what causes this?
tell me if you need more info...

Do you hiccup when you drink hot or cold beverages or when you yawn, or is it completely random and unconnected with any other event?
There was an article in today's Star Ledger about hiccups called "Hiccups Generally Linked to Nerve Irritation." Here is the link http://www.nj.com/living/ledger/index.ssf?/base/living-0/1197959388325640.xml&coll=1
The article is written by Dr. Dennis Cardone (at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Department of Family Medicine, 1 Robert Wood Johnson Place, New Brunswick, N.J. 08903. Or e-mail him at askthedoc@umdnj.edu)
to summarize, in case the hyperlink doesn't work or times out: Dr. Cardone says the cause of hiccups is not know but there are many "triggers" including eating hot or cold food or beverages, swallowing air, tobacco or alcohol use, or some medications. He says that some of the home remedies do work by stimulating the vagus nerve. He recommends seeing a doctor if the hiccups are "persistent or intractable" because the underlying cause may be serious.

The reason we get hiccups is because we aren't getting enough oxygen. The diaphragm contracts violently to suck air in to help supply the deficit When you get them drink 10 sips of water while looking down, I think mostly it forces you to breathe deeply. But more importantly go and see a chiropractor. If you are out of alignment your lungs don't fill properly. I know it made all the difference for me and I got hiccups all the time before that! Good luck!

Talk to your doctor soon.
There are at least a dozen possible reasons...in any case if it is seriously interrupting your life, as I've already said, see your doctor! While not necessarily dangerous, excessive hic-cupping can be - in some certain situations - actually be life threatening.

you could be digesting your food too fast or maybe it has something to do with the way you're breathing. If it occurs as often as you say it does I recommend a doctor because chances are it isn't anything you're doing wrong, but it could be a minor condition that you'll need to get checked out asap.

This is due to irregular breathing action in your lungs, one side off your lungs slightly off to the other. Hiccups is a way off trying to right this.

I don't know the cause, but I do know that a teaspoonful of sugar helps get rid of them.
