This question I believe warrants discussion because the bases of the Christian's faith hangs upon this one factor.
In Deuteronomy 24:16, it clearly states children has to pay for their own sins and not the sins of their parents, so why is it that we are sinners because of the sins of Adam and Eve?
Deuteronomy 24:16 The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin.

We aren't being punished for the sins of Adam and Eve, however, we are living with the consequences of the sin.
For example: My great-grandfather was a drunk and a gambler in the final few years of his life. Prior to that, he worked hard and owned many, many, MANY acres of prime land in the Yellowstone Valley. He gambled a large part of this land away in one hand of poker.
We no longer own the land - we live with the consequences.
Adam and Eve sinned against God and were kicked out of Eden, and therefore we live in a sinful world.
I don't believe we are born sinful, we are just born into a sinful world.

We do not carry the sins of the fathers.
The Lord said all souls are his, we can not blame our fathers for our behavior. That proveb no longer is just...your sins are your sins...as is your fathers.
Ezekiel 18
1The word of the LORD came unto me again, saying,
2What mean ye, that ye use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge?
3As I live, saith the Lord GOD, ye shall not have occasion any more to use this proverb in Israel.
4Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
EDIT:
Isaiah = Isaiah - 700 B.C.
Ezekiel = Ezekiel - 550 B.C.
Ezekiel was written long after Isaiah

You're in good company; Jesus hated religion, too. He chided people who prayed long memorized prayers (like Catholics do). He called people thieves who tried to get to God some other way except thru belief in Him. Jesus in God in bodily form. He is NOT a religion and HE is the only who knows everything about you. He loves you passionately and wants to be your BFF. He has a super-deluxe custom-made plan for your life that’s beyond anything you ever dreamed of. But He waits for us to ask. Invite Him into your heart, ask Him to take over your life. You will instantly feel better. You are His special masterpiece. He planned for you before He even created the universe. Watch Him ease your confusion and give you peace in it's place. He is on YOUR side. He never stops thinking about you. His thoughts toward you are more than the grains of sand on the beach (Psalm 139. He loves you more than you can possibly imagine! Read your Bible, find Christian support groups. Watch Christian programs like Hal Lindsey Report, End Time, Joel Osteen, 700 Club, Daystar and Joyce Meyer, TBN TV. Read Christian books, watch Christian DVDs. There's so much fascinating information to learn. Jesus loves you. You’ll have fun and the rest of your life will be the very best of your life. I hope this helps; it sure made a huge difference for me :) They who seek The Lord shall not lack any good thing. Ps. 34:10 Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. Ps 37:4-6 Pour out your heart to Him (Ps 62:8) Nothing you say will shock or surprise God. You are His special, unique creation :)

Because of Adam & Eve's sin in the Garden of Eden all of
human - kind are born in sin.
But the only sins we are responsible for are our own sins,
But God has given us a free will, not to continue in sin but
rather to accept or reject His gift of Salvation;
But to reject God's gift of Salvation, means eternal separation
from God.

YOU need to read further
for the sin is passed to GENERATION to GENERATION
and it is written this way
" THIS DAY i lay before you a BLESSING and a CURSE"
" a BLESSING if you do my will "
" a CURSE if you do it not "
and even King Davids SIN was passed to generations and generations , for it says this " Now therefore the sword shall NEVER DEPART from thy House ; because thou hast despised me , and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife. Thus saith the Lord , Behold I , will raise up evil against thee out of thy own house , and I will take thy wives before thine eyes , and give them to unto thy neighbor , and he will lie with thy wives in thy sight of this sun. For thou didst it secretly : but i will do this thing before all Israel , and before this sun . "
If you do well , will you not be accepted , but if you do not well sin lieth at the door "
SIN passes it DOWN
ITS CALLED THE THE LAW of SIN AND DEATH
BY ONE DEATH ENTERED IN
and ONLY BY BLOOD can it be ATONED FOR
and in ALL of HEAVEN and Earth NONE was found worthy to ATONE for man , but the LAMB which was slain from its foundation, HE and HE ALONE was WORTHY
FOR WHEN HE LOOKED AROUND , HE COULD SWARE BY NO GREATER HE SWORE TO HIMSELF
AND HE CAME and TOOK ON THE simlitude of fallen man
a FLESHLY BODY WAS HE PREPARED to suffer and DIE TO FULLFILL THAT LAW of SIN AND DEATH
ONCE AND FOR ALL
THAT WE KNOW LONGER HAVE TO BEAR ITS FEAR AND GRIEVE.........
and the BLESSING is FOLLOWING GODS WORD
JESUS CHRIST
and then the CURSE of SIn and Death is Broken from that moment on....FROM our children and our childrens children and for many generations
READ THE WORD and rightly divide its TRUTHS
and not a mans ideas to twist its teachings !!!!!!!!
AND ONE DAY the very HOUSE of David will be able to see HIM to
FOR now they are blinded for the sake of the Gentiles till the time of the Gentiles are fullfilled...
THEN YESHUA will COME
