for those who, in a time of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality."-Dante Alighieri-

I disagree with this statement strongly. It isn't the ones who refuse to fight that are responcible for all the fighting in the world, it's the ones who fight.

Let's see if you still believe this if your home is invaded, and the robbers rape and murder your wife and children in front of you.

By your own admission, you'll tell them to just go ahead because you think that it's evil to intervene on their behalf.

Good thing I don't believe in Hell, then, isn't it? we each create our own heaven or hell. It's what you truly believe that matters, not what someone else tells you. Remember that Dante was writing in a completely different time than that in which we now live. Dante was speaking of someone who refused to either support or condemn the Church, but merely chose to follow their beliefs on their own. At the time, that was considered more evil than an outright disagreement - some faith is better than none, etc.

You misunderstand the statement.

Those who do not fight for what they believe in are cowards, worse than those who stand up for what they believe in.

It's like this -

Let's say someone's girlfriend is being hit on by another guy and this someone does nothing to curb it. Or, if someone insults your sister or mom and you do nothing about it. You're a coward and a loser if you don't do anything about it.

That's the point of that statement.

This does not refer to the ones who refuse to fight. It refers to the ones who perceive great injustice and are indifferent.

All that has to happen for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing. I don't know who said this but there is a lot of truth here.

You totally misunderstood the quote. You need to remember that those who will not wield the sword in righteousness, can also die on the sword.

I disagree, though reading about those who use ignorance to gain peace (i.e. Neville Chamberlain), just make me feel frustrated.

we will be judged by what we did and didn't do. Example, We condem ourselves if we vote in a pro-choice candidate to office or if we don't do anything to stop abortion.
