Are you referring maybe to a physical location such as Green Ramp at Ft Bragg. I spent many an hour sitting at green ramp waiting to go.

Soliders will sit in a transport / passenger seat. Usually in the cargo compartment.
Pilots sit up in the flight deck or cockpit.
