If and when his pay will start (all the other stuff doesnt bother me) the length of time he is going to be gone will be HARD but we will live through it. I am use to the military life so the adjusment isnt going to be hard for me.

I know they get paid the 1st and the 15th of each month but would like to know around about amount to expect? Does anyone know how much he will be paid and if I (as his wife) will recieve pay as well?

I was a child when my father was in the military (Marines to be exact). I dont recall having to deal with the finacial duties due to the fact I was YOUNG.

His recruiter saiD I should recive spousal support (thought is was odd myself) which is why I am asking "Will I get paid?" I was wondering WTF reason I would be paid for as well. He on the other hand I can i understan!!!!!!!

I am not positive on his rank but think it is E-1 till after AIT.

Now with all that out of the way I DO NOT EXPECT to get paid.

You should visit www.futuresoldier.com
there is ALOT of information for new Soldiers and their family.. You wont be getting paid anything "sorry".. your husband will get extra money because he is married and based upon where you live for housing Allowance.. you really should check out this website I am surprised you have not already.
Unless each BCT post is dfifferent your husband will be given a 300.00 advance pay to buy his running shoes and other items he will need... he doesnt have a choice in not taking it.. being a Marine's daughter is different than being an Armywife.. my father served in the Air Force for over 23 yrs I expected when my husband went Active from the Reserves in 97 that things would be the same , but no I was in shock...
There is so much you will learn and there is nothing wrong with asking questions, before your husband leaves you need to decide the best way for him to get paid the end of the month ( 1st) or mid month ( 15th), or once a month as I know a few people who do it that way.
also not knowing your husband's rank I cant tell you how much he will get ... look up pay charts for what ever rank he is , then he will get housing allowance and family seperation pay.. ( feel like im missing something) but you get it now right?
let me know if i can help out in anyway...been there done that with my Husband , myself .

The earliest you will see the pay deposited into the account is Feb 1st, but be prepared that it might not be there, instead on Feb 15th. If it is the 15th of Feb then it will be backdated to the date he started BCT. He will get Basic Pay (whatever his rate/rank is) & BAH (Based on your zip code). He will not ge BAS in BCT because all meals are provided for him. It will start up in AIT and then it will be deducted from as he eats in the mess/galley. Never count on it being there.

Possibly what the recruiter was talking about was Family Separation of $250 a month if they are gone due to TDY, TAD, schooling or deployment longer than 30 days. It should be paid during BCT as well, it may show up on the first pay or it may not show up until after they have graduated.

Don't forget about all the deductions like FICA, Social, Medicare, State Tax, SGLI, GI Bill, Automatic deduction (up to $250 to buy essentials), Tricare Dental, & FSGLI. So the first pay may not be the greatest and be prepared for that.

From army wife to army wife... no, you will not get paid, but if the both of you have a joint account then you obviously will have access to the money.. if i were you i would make sure you have a back up of money.. sometimes when you first get to bct, the paperwork gets backed up so sometimes you dont get paid on time. If that does happen you have the right to contact the AER (army emergency relief) office and they will give you an interest free loan that will tide you over and take it out of his check... you NEED to make sure all your paperwork is in order before he leaves or you will not exsist to the army... if you cant prove 6 times over that you are his wife..it will suck...just going in on an e-1 salary will be hard, but you will receive bah and regualr pay.. i never count bas, because the amount of our taxes is almost amount of our bas...(coincedence?) Hopefully, you get paid on time and mothing goes wrong, but it usually does so good luck to you!

YOU get paid nothing. he can expect his first pay to hit about 6-8 weeks after he reports to Basic training.

Pay will be dependent on his paygrade and the BAH he will be entitled to. an E1 under 4 months makes around $1200/month. you can figure that the GI BIll, Taxes and SGLI takes about $200-ish give or take. Also, the first check will be short around $250 to pay for incidentals that he must purchase at BT.

wtf would they pay you for? if you really know about the military life then you should already know the answer...you didnt sign the papers why would they pay you? as the old saying goes...

If the army wanted you to have a wife they would have issued you one

Also my husband has been in the Army 14 years and we get paid once a month on the 1st, it was our choice not to get 2 paychecks

Are you enlisted as well? Then why would you be receiving any pay for the simple reason that you are his wife and nothing else?

Expect him to receive some pay a couple of weeks after he gets to Fort Knox.

Why on earth would you think that you would get paid?????

As per congressional mandate, military members are paid on the 15th and the last day of the month.

He will be paid based on his pay grade (rank).

If you are used to military life then you should know this.....

If you are use to the military, you should know his rank and what he gets paid...if not sure, he can check with his commanding officer and pay officer, they will tell him how much he will be making and when it will start...

You won't get any money unless he gives it to you. He will get base pay, BAH, separation pay (I think) and BAS.
