My son was talking to me today about his teacher (which I have grown to hate) and he said that she almost took off conduct points for someone in his class saying "oh my god" and she told the child not to use the lord's name in vain.

This is the same 3rd grade teacher that gave my son homework the day before halloween (the night of the school fall festival) and halloween night AND makes them wash off temporary tattoos if she sees them on the children. I cannot WAIT until my son gets out of her class.

I have no problem whatsoever with my son having a homosexual teacher and you had better get over that real quick because gay people are coming out of the closet in droves, honey!

is this public school? does the principal know about this?

i'd be putting a temporary tatoo on my kid every morning, and telling the teacher he wears it for religious reasons, but i can't tell her which because it's a mystery religion. the halloween would have been a sinch in my house, it's a religious holiday, and she would have had to let him make up the work later.

Do you do anything in class to make the teacher mad? Annoy them? Get in trouble? I'm honestly not a bad student but idi talk and laugh a lot in class, so generally my teachers aren't my biggest fans. I had an English teacher last year who gave a project to do and mine was to make a cake relating to a book I had read and a full page paper of a summary of the book, my book was the hunger games and my cake was the best cake ever! It was circular and had the hunger games symbol (the mockingjay pin) on it and it just looked really good in my opinion, I wrote that paper with my whole heart haha I mean I put a lot of effort into this. This particular teacher had sent me out probably 15 times over the course of that semester as occasional threats and being held after class for the excessive talking I had been doing, long story short I presented my project, got my grade back-93. I asked how this was because I thought I had done well, my teachers response "I don't know I don't remember" like seriously?!? It's like she took off points just because she didnt like me, which was the reason, sometimes teachers do that. My Spanish teacher recently did the same thing as you! I wrote this chart and was writing fast and wrote "áis" with the accent over the "a" well apparently I was writing so fast and sloppily I made my dash mainly over the "I" but you could see the dot for the i it didn't look like this-> í well she marked it wrong anyways and gave me a 99, I pointed out the dot to the I and that it should be obvious that the accent was over the a especially since it was written twice more on that sheet but her response was simply "placement is key" I was livid, my classmates chuckled as well thinking wtf why?! But some teachers try to do what they can to affect your grade based on your behavior. I feel you! Try and talk to him after class saying you seriously couldn't find anything and you think you deserve a 25/25. If he refuses yet again, leave it because its hard to change a teachers mind, if this continues go to a higher authority in your school like a counselor or principle and tell them what's happening and you feel you're being treated unfairly, the problem will soon be fixed! Good luck to you!

Oh, My God! how is this taking the lord's name in vain. What ever happened to freedom of speech! or does this not count for children. Did she discuss this with the child's parents or did she just embarrass the child in front of the class. Some teachers don't have any tact when it comes to children. Hey Teacher Leave those kids alone!

Yes I would. She is a teacher not a despot. I do Understand The temporary tattoo thing if it was school's politics but if she is just impounding her will to others, well that's just wrong. Talk to her or better yet go over her head and talk to the school's Principle. Make sure of Gather other Parents who feel the same.

A little extreme, although it is known that it's using God's in vain. At least what my dad used to say to me when I was growing up, but nowadays I see less care about that subject.
If I was the teacher I woulda just maybe corrected the kid, not threaten to take points off.

Oh yes I would have some words with her. I would actually pull him out of that class now.
While children can be very resiliant, they can also be influenced and shaped by teachers. A negative or positive action from a teacher can shape their future.
However, it seems like he's got a good parent, so take some heart from that, as kids are more influnced by their parents.

So you have hopes of having a gang banger one day?? Good grief, be thankful your child is getting some good values and restraint in his young life. Would you rather the teacher sends him home with condoms or a homosexual manual because he could have that kind of teacher as early as next year, if you haven't already observed. Thank goodness for teachers like your son who loves him enough to set a good example.

I would report the teacher, for being inconsiderate and rude. Also for trying to pressure religion on your son. It is the MOTHER or FATHER's right to decide whether their children wear temporary tattoos, not the teacher's...and nor is it her place to tell your child not to take the lord's name in vain.

I think that teacher sees herself as an exemplary of what it means to be an adult, and would like her students to follow in her example.

Perhaps she simply wants the kid in question to shut up and do their work.

Which is totally alright in eyes - remember, she only used the threat of discipline, not actual discipline.

I mean, it's not as if you should be thinking about God when you're supposed to be learning, right?
