I Study Both Psychology and (Independently)Demonology (Study
of Demonic Manifestations). And As such I have come to Believe in Demonic Possession But I KNOW that there are only handful of REAL Possessions now a days the others are mental cases confused with Real phenomena (Annelise Michelle AKA Emily Rose being the most famous example)
Only One really strong willed and with a Clean conscience can cast Demons out in God's name. This Could be a Priest, a Pastor, or your next door neighbor, As long as HE or She fills those requirements. Jesus just said Get out and they leaved, We have to keep going for hours until we break the Demon and it leaves.

I don't know whether it is seen in the same way but evil can be very hurtful and destructive of relationships. The worse case with which I was involved concerned a close knit family where one teenager suddenly started having dreams which were traced to sexual abuse which she had suffered from a man in the family circle - the husband of her aunt.
Before long there was so much fear and hate going around that all relationships were severely damaged. Much of it hinged on the accusation that the man's wife must have known and covered up. And the man's parents were ostracized.
To sort this out took a lot of investment in time and careful loving tenderness. In the end the man left the circle and was divorced by his wife and the family began to forgive but they will never forget.
To me this sort of thing is the modern equivalent of demons.

I believe that everything that happened in the Bible can happen now. Christians cast out demons in the name of Jesus and all the other things that occurred in the Bible. It says we can do these things by faith in Christ.

Yes and no. I believe it did happen. I believe that it can, but never witnessed anything like it. From what I can remember a minister/paster/preacher can cast demons out of you. But it's been ages since I've been to church. So I am just guessing.

I'm not a Christian but yes I do believe that people can and do allow dark entities to control them. Yes, I believe that it stills happens in this day and time. As far as who casts them away, I think it's up to the individual. I honestly think that it's a choice to walk in darkness or light.

Jesus is still casting them out of those who will come to Him. But most people prefer to just quiet them down with drugs.

There are demons in many people to this day. Hopefully Jesus will be here soon to help them.

Unfortunately, yes it does happen today. As with any army (Gods army vs Satan's) there are ranks. Rememebr the one where Jesus said "this kind goes not out but by fasting and prayer"? They are nothing to play around with, but give/submit yourself to God, resist the devil & he'll flee from you.

it is my belief based on scriptural passages as well as some of the experiences of missionaries that many people open their lives up to demon involvement through the embracing of some sin or through cultic involvement [both knowingly and unknowingly]. examples may include immorality; drug/alcohol abuse...as these alter one’s state of consciousness; rebellion; bitterness; transcendental meditation. in our western culture, we see an increase of eastern religious teachings under the guise of the new age movement.

if we pursue God with our lives and are clothing ourselves with his armor and relying upon his strength [not our own], we have nothing to fear from the evil ones, for God rules over all!
