okay so my brother said that christmas sucks because its really cold around this time and that theres more traffic when I think he meant to say that the time around christmas and not the holiday itself sucked.

but anyway, my mom was like, "this is the time when Jesus was born" and then she went to say something about "theres a higher power known as god who put everything on earth" and then she said something about "and he gave it to us so we could use it"

but then my brother said "then why did he provide us with marijuana and tobacco?"

what do you think of that comeback?

Well, what did you or your mother say back to him?

At first, I thought the comeback was weak until you said it was an 11 year old. What's funny is that some "adults" think that it is so clever. Let's take a look at what else God put on earth: high ledges to jump off of, rocks (people can use them to harm others, sharp sticks, sharks, etc. So, what's the real question here. Marijuana and tobacco are here. You CHOOSE to use them whether they cause you harm or not. It's your choice.

Your brother is absolutely right.
People can blab all they like saying, that it was put there as a medicinal plant, and we were given free will....bla bla bla.
But why would an all powerful being give us the choice to damage out bodies?? Why put it there in the first place if he knew what we would eventually do with it?

Marijuana and tobacco are medicines that some people abuse. I mean look at how people are abusing over the counter drugs, in this day and time.

Very few Christians can support their own position when you apply what they say universally, as logic would dictate you should be able to do. The concepts of Christianity are very narrow in effect out of necessity.

Haha, nice comeback. I think your mum might take the bible a little too seriously: perhaps she should just take away the message of it, rather than each word for word.

Well, there must be equal opposition to all righteousness, so there must be those things - how else could abstaining from marijuana and tobacco be righteous?

Not really a nice thing to say to your mother.

In a debate situation, it's a decent point that would be good for a laugh.

Sounds like something a typical smart@rse teenager would say.

I hope your mother was able to respond in an amusing, witty manner?

Terriffic!!! So if he smokes filters, he's not too bad, but cigar smokers are doomed. And he burns a splif, he'll do thirty days in purgatory, but a bomber.... forget about him.
