Help! I have no sound from VLC player or Windows Media player....?

I can get sound from Sky website & you tube but not any of my media players>>>>

Any suggestions

My sound sometimes goes very fast and high pitched for no particular reason. When I reboot it goes back to normal.

I don't know what causes the problem or how to fix it, but a quick reboot seems to fix it.

Right click the speaker icon in the tray (by the clock) and take it from there

open your mixer and see if any of the sounds have been muted, check box at bottom of each control
