You can actually take properly packed firearms in your CHECKED baggage. I linked below the relevant policies from UPS, FedEx, and the TSA. DHL does not accept firearms.
Hand guns are generally NOT mailable via the US Postal Service. Rifles and shotguns are under specific rules.

Go to a local gunshop and ask them to ship it to a gunshop at the other end. Licensed dealers can ship to each other. Both of them will want a fee in addition to the shipping costs.

They may also want assurances that you have a legal right to be in possession of the gun. That is, do you own it, can you prove it? If it's an old family heirloom or something you might not be able to prove very easily that it's yours.

Also there are different rules for shipping long guns, and you might be able to ship those to yourself.

Or leave it with a friend, and come back for it another time.

Depends where you're moving to.

You can take it in checked baggage as long as you follow all the TSA policies for transport of firearms, which you can get online. If you have doubts, do the gun-shop to gun-shop thing that someone suggested.

But first make sure this particular gun is legal in whatever state you're going to.

Take it to a gun shop and for a fee they will ship it to a gun shop in the area to which you are moving. Make sure it is legal for you to posses a firearm in the state your moving to. Travel safe

Make sure the location you are going to allows you to have the weapon. Some cities do not.

As far as shipping the weapon via Fedex or UPS. Yes, you can.
