The British SAS are some pretty sick individuals. I trained with them during my time in the army. I thought i was tough and hardcore. They made us look like armatures, not that we were. They were very well organized and it was a great experience getting to see what they can do first hand. We spent two months with them and were able to learn quite a bit.

i think Germany GSG-9, Grenzschutzgruppe 9. they are amone the best of the special forces of the world. They are the counter-terrorist group created to help deal with the soviet aggression during the Cold War.
"From 1972 to 2003 they reportedly completed over 1,500 missions, with only 5 shots being fired. At the S.W.A.T. championship in 2005, GSG 9 won an impressive seven out of seven events, beating 17 other teams. In March 2006, in the same competition, GSG 9 defended its championship. Team GSG-9, the Federal Border Police of Germany, swept the competition and won all seven events."
The GSG-9 model their unit after the British SAS, and the US Delta Force

Every country likes to believe that their own forces are the "best" when in reality they are all trained to a similar standard with similar training methods... Really they are all the "best" at what they do, it is important for the memebers of these units and general public of their country to believe that they are the best as they need this belief to help them get their job done.

Britian has their SAS and Russia has Spetsnaz but I would have to say the best of the best are the NAVY SEALs. But honestly with this question you are going to get opinion answers.

British SAS are very good, and by the book. Russian specnaz are very brutal, and if ur lucky, ur killed in the fire fight. but id have to say that american seals are some of the best. when we do stuff ourselves, we get the job done.

Israel, they have carried out some operations that still astound the experts.

The raid on Entebbe was one of note.

it really depends on what you need done like the other person said. but from military people i've talked to i think the best all around pick would be either us marines or the british. there are alot out there and they each practice for very specific goals they need to achive.

They each have their own unique mission, basically. If you're a hostage, for example, you would want Delta Force to storm in and break you out.
Need an underwater explosive put in place? CAll the SEALS. Wanna go in and capture a warlord? Call in the Rangers..
Need a good sniper team? Call the Marines
