Can you beat old fashioned fudge (the kind you cook to softball stage) with an electric mixer?

I would say it might be hard , i would use a wooden spoon . Would probably be your best bet.

InstructionsDifficulty: Easy Things You’ll Need: 1/8 tsp. salt ice cream 1 c. sugars spatulas knife heavy saucepans 2 tsp. vanilla cutting boards 3/4 c. heavy creams 2 tbsp. unsalted butters stirring spoons 2 oz. unsweetened chocolate 2 tbsp. light corn syrup Ice Cream Cutting Boards Heavy Saucepans Knife Spatulas Stirring Spoons Knife Spatulas 2 oz. unsweetened chocolate 2 tbsp. unsalted butters 1/8 tsp. salt 1 c. sugars 3/4 c. heavy creams 2 tsp. vanilla 2 tbsp. light corn syrup Step1 Chop unsweetened chocolate until fine. Step2 Put chocolate into heavy saucepan and melt with butter and corn syrup over low heat. Step3 Stir. Add cream and sugar, and bring mixture to a boil. Step4 Boil over moderate heat without stirring for 8 minutes. Step5 Remove pan from heat and stir in vanilla and salt. I would not. You do not have to stir it long by hand. Besides it gets very thick....much to thick for a mixer. You would have a burnt up mixer and a mess.
