My friend's cat has diarrhea (Going on the third day) and the cat had vomiting (it stopped, only lasted 4 hours, vomitted 4 times FRIDAY NIGHT). She found it outside and already has cats who are healthy. We are thinking that it picked something up from her cats. The cat is eating tuna, will not touch the dry food and drinking normally. She took it to the SPCA and the vet approved the pepto, but did not tell her how often. It seems like he is getting better, but needs something for the loose stool HELP!

I work at a vet, and you can give a little pepto depending on their wt, but that is not a longterm thing to do, if vomiting persists, it could be serious and I suggest you take your pet asap.

Let me clarify something dogs and cats are allowed to have 4 kinds of human medications ... Pepto bismol, BUFFERED aspirin, Prozac, and benadryl this has been approved by many vets and I am a vet tech myself but you need to check with a trained professional before giving to your pet and inquire about the dosage

Pepto it toxic to cats. Tuna can cause Yellow Fat Disease and that can make the cat very sick.
Here is a link that will tell all about Yellow Fat Disease.

do not ever feed a cat human medication. also continually feeding tuna is bad for cats. dry food is HORRIBLE and cats have no need for it. i feed a raw diet and my cats are NEVER ill. please try feeding a canned food that does not have grain and is made from human grade meat. or if you are open to it try the raw diet i have seen it help sooooo many sick animals. try a product like aunt jenis home made for life. in te mean time bring the cat to the vet because it sounds like she may have eaten something toxic. this happens all the time and people dont realize that their cat needs medical attention

I agree with Duke.....This cat is going to get dehydrated. Needs to be seen by a licensed vet. If you can't afford it, call them in advance and set up a payment arrangement and/or tell them your situation. Any GOOD vet will work with you. Get to the vet first thing Monday.
Best wishes.

Unfortunately, I wouldnt recommend pepto! Sorry! I would get her/him to a licensed Vet. Mine had to have antibiotics for similar symptoms that you have described. Try more solid foods and try not to give them different things that could upset his stomach.

Phone the vet for clarification.
If anything err on the side of caution - too little is better than too much.

Go on line, and ask what to give a cat with diarreah. You should find out there ,if you can give pepto bismo, kaopectate, or imodium. DON'T, GIVE UNTIL YOU KNOW FOR SURE..It might even state how much. Go to www.ask .com, and ask your question. Good luck
