I've been a cutter myself for nearly 10 years now, and never once have I sterlized my tool of infliction..whether its a blade, pen, razor. I've done it with rusty nails and knives. The worst thing the could've, or could, happen to me is the fact that I could possibly get lock jaw from doing it with an unsterilized instrument. Do I need or want counseling...No! I'm normal, and this is a way to deal with my problems, I'd rather cut, then use drugs. I've got scars all over my arms from my habit...its an addiction that you cannot get away from. Rehab won't stop a cutter. Just like it won't stop someone from being anorexic.

I was going to start by mentioning infection, but you know to sterilize. Understand that bacteria could already be present on your skin and cutting it before sterilizing the skin would make it vulnerable to infection as well. Of course, I do not encourage or condone cutting. The worst thing that could happen other than infection is that your hurting yourself not only physically, but mentally. The subconscious sees and hears everything and cannot decipher fantasy from reality. It sees you- the you that's supposed to protect yourself- hurt yourself. Your subconscious is like an observing artist- it watches and listens, then expresses it all. It will express you hurting yourself. Cutters tend to bury their feelings and cut for a release. If you don't find a healthy and productive way purge your negative feelings, your mind will not only experience your negative feelings, but will experience you hurting yourself and express it- which is again, negative. You should seek help.

alongside with your first question: ethical or immoral as relating faith? Society? Sub-society? man or woman morality? What sort of morality are we conversing approximately? To my strategies, self-harm incredibly has no ethical foundation besides with the purpose to me this question is senseless. What morals are you going against in case you do it? What morals are you upholding in case you do no longer? i don't get that. i in my view experience that the only morals that rely are a guy or woman's very own morals. Society, faith or something shouldn't dictate what you do or what you have faith. you may. in case you experience that it is large morally, then i assume it is not immoral. Is it injurious? sure. could you do it? No. I personaly think of self-mutilation accomplishes no longer something. I did that sh!t for awhile. reducing... I even went finished-hog and did the burning ingredient. All it gave me grew to become right into a heavily extreme threshold for soreness and a few incredibly undesirable scars. It would not supply your soreness a voice. It provides your soreness an EXCUSE and as quickly as i found out that, i ended. soreness could be confronted, confronted, excised and launched. reducing is superficial launch. it is not genuine considering the fact which you haven't any longer confronted it at it is resource. it incredibly is why you may shop reducing. because of the fact the soreness remains there. My husbands hands are all scarred as much as hell and decrease back. It would not do something. it is unnecessary. And sure, human beings experience greater suitable while they shrink. yet it is as a result of the fact the sensation of "launch" is a trick your strategies performs. once you're in soreness or harm, your physique releases endorphins that make you experience good and result in calm and a stable physique of strategies, exceptionally much like being extreme. in fact, it is not any emotional launch in any respect. purely a chemical reaction on your strategies. so a techniques as a sin... i assume it ought to be interpreted as one, sure. you're no longer meant to defile the Temple Of The Lord and your physique is the Temple Of The Lord. it incredibly is why doing drugs is a sin. Piercing, smoking, tattoos... all those issues are sins going via that dictum.

Well, besides the previous statements of the scars, etc. I would say any "quick fix" that is addictive (i.e. you need to do it to feel better) is bad. It only temporarily solves the problem (the emotion you are feeling) and can lead to worse addictive behavior. Once you get bored with cutting or you don't get the same "high" anymore, you move on to more dangerous behavior.

Cutting artery (Which will make blood squirt out, thus loosing circulation to the rest of your body.)

By creating an opening in your skin, you allow foreign objects, such as unwanted micro-organism to enter your body, maybe even your bloodstream, and sooner or later, you might have trillions of micro-organism living in your bloodstream and heart. I think it is obvious what the effects are after.

Scars for life, do you really want to remember your past every time you look at your arm(or wherever you cut) when you are older and have stopped cutting?

Besides the two physical damage, I'm sure there are psychological damages as well.

You can also damage tendons and lose the use of part of your hand.
There are groups that help with this sort of thing. it is definitely not good for you.
I would recommend also a psycho-spiritual approach, as in my experience the urge for self-mutilation has a complex origin.

The resulting scars you get don't do much for your looks.
And you can get raging infections, no matter how careful you are about the cleanliness factor.
Also, the more you do it, the more you will have the urge to do it, just like with some drugs.
It is only a temporary fix to combat negative feelings.

well, bad things happens with both =
scars permanent by the way

damaged nerves, which mean you can have a permanent numbness in that area, or complete loss of movement of sense of feeling
need of hospital treatment - which can eventually lead to you being sectioned, trust me, not nice
