Absolutely, and you're spot-on about today's religion being tomorrow's myth, given enough time. Hopefully soon the entire sordid business will be relegated to the footnotes of history.

The answer is no. Religion and Spirituality are the channels to our self enlightenment, comfort, wisdom, security and protection. Mythology and Folklore are stories and tales that people tell through generations, almost making believe they were real. There is no connection at all. However, some tales might be taken as spiritual and some true spiritual facts might be taken as mythology and folklore by mistake. Example: Casper, the ghost or any other tale of ghosts would certainly be folklore; spirits that communicate with mediums is a fact, therefore spirituality. Greek gods, mythology; saints and entities, spirituality. Peace!

Well you are partly correct. I am a muslim and I have to agree with you , TO AN EXTENT.
Of course atheist will see AL religions as myth and folklore, but people of faith only see other religions outside their own ans myth and folklore.
A good secular reason not to combine them is that people like me who DO believe in a higher power would not even look under that category because it would not even cross our minds that such a category would apply to us. This would defeat the purpose of having an open forum because only atheist would participate because theiosts wouldn't (a) thunk theyir faith was included and (b would be offended at its inclusion if they did know it was included.
I think the current format is the best because atheists and religionists all seem to find the religion category and are using it quite frequently to express their views.
I hope this answers your question
PEACE

No. Then we would lose the other two words from our vocabulary.. no fun, :))
Seriously. There's truth, and then there's myth. Time proves the truth, the myth can become religion, but a religion is not necessarily a myth. And spirituality doesn't have anything to do with religion. And that, my friend is the TRUTH! :))
Boy! I'm having too much fun. :))
Oh! Forgot about the Folklore... well... people wouldn't have any more reasons to indulge in their vices if you take folklore out of life. Then, misery will invade the whole world. :))
Peace out!

I think the christians would object - they do NOT see their religion as a myth.
Doesnt bother me - but I think it would be a little crowded trying to get passed questions asking about Peter pan, the greek gods, and the myth of noah's ark, while looking for religious questions.

This is asked so frequently that it has become one of the Atheist drinking game questions.....
And the answer is -- No
Myths are the STORIES that teach moral lessons or religious themed histories.....
Religion is the spiritual practices based on the myths.

I asked this a few days ago and the best answer I got I thought was this:
"I just think that mythology provides a safe retreat for those who want to discuss spirituality and avoid the Fundie/Athei wars."

Should Atheism and The spiritually dead be in the same catergory?
Today's Atheists were yesterday's denyers of Faith.
Seems to me the only difference between Atheism And The Spiritually dead is: One is a false Religion and the other: a person who follows that Religion.

Dear Friend,
I'm not sure what your question is. All of the above you have mentioned is "man" made. However, Christianity... (true Christianity) is a "real" personal relationship with the living person of Jesus Christ and is "not" a religion, but a relationship with our Creator...period.
Sincerely in Christ Jesus,
lostnsavd...
