Pros: If you enjoy the outdoors then there are many. Depending on your area of the country you could be involved in many exciting studies and see many things that others only dream of.
Cons: Income is not that great and the possibility of you working long lonely hours is a problem. Whether or not you work alone also has to do with the area of the country you chose to work in.

Forest Ranger work is increasingly dangerous. Wildfires and forest fires in the West and the South-East are yearly events.
The mid-west is next.
Try something safer, highway motorcycle police or bomb handling crew in the Special Forces.

pro: it's a stable govt job
you work outside a lot
you deal with the general public
but usually alone a lot
good chance to be in nature
frustrating cuz you can't stop loss of forest & extinction etc
