5 years ago, when I was still very uneducated, I chose to jump off a swing. I landed on the side of my left foot and fell. It was pure agony and I couldn't walk for weeks. I refused to go to the doctor.(very unwise) It hurt for 2 years, and then on and off. Recently it was throbbing, but not a sharp kind, but a compression kind of pain. I don't know what triggered it. In the past 2 years I have also had aquard knee problems also on my left knee. Could these be related? The doctor was stumped and after an MRI said I had bad bruising. Can I do anything for the ankle?

I assume the MRI was normal? Therefore what happened you stretched the muscles, ligaments, tendons five years ago! Now the weak ankle has put the knee under pressure and in a few years time the hip and spine, spine might come first. Therefore you need to locate a PT, ask for some Pilate's type exercises, for the entire body, strengthen the core muscles, learn about balance, posture and keep all the muscles strong. Good Luck.
