If he's only working out at home with the bag, get him a membership at a boxing/kickboxing gym. Also, the Bas Rutten workout is something that I'm sure he would appreciate. It's a kick a** workout. find the link below

put on some hooters outfit , get some 10x 12 cards and write round one, two three on themm and put on a show in the ring for him
boring gift would be one of the sports channel package thet includes alot of boxing for a year. they may even discount it if you pay a year upfront
