Does the bread with cookie trick work with freezing?

Question

If I have hard cookies and I want to freeze them to keep them fresh, can I still add the bread while they are in the freezer and still have them come out soft when they de thaw or do I have to add it afterwards?

I WOULD FREEZE THEM, THEN WHEN THEY THAW OUT, PUT IN TUPPERWARE OR RUBBERMAID WITH A SLICE OF BREAD FOR A GOOD 24 HOURS!!!
tHATS HOW I DO IT, AND I BAKE ABOUT 200 COOKIES AT XMAS!!!
