We did food baskets for Thanksgiving, my family and I made up the baskets. For Christmas we did Angel Tree. Our family did not buy gifts for each other, we just bought for the children on the Angel Tree.

Right now in my parish's parking lot are 2 ,48ft trailers from semi trucks that are being loaded on a daily basis with food, clothing and toys for people in our community who are less fortunate. Inside my parish we have a a table set up for monetary donations to buy turkeys and hams and coats and shoes for the needy. We also have an angel tree for children of a specific gift they would like, there were over 300 tags on our tree, it is now empty as all the gifts have been bought by individuals from the parish
We did the same thing at Thanksgiving

it would take waaaaay to long to list it all, so here is the site where all of our church members were given to sign up for something if we wished too....it was so wonderful we are going to do it next year as well! the church I go to is Northpoint community church by andy stanley, and the website is northpoint.org, he has his sermons on there where you can listen and watch for free...he's a great speaker and puts the bible in terms you can understand, so if you someone who has no bible backround at all, he sets the whole story up for you first...like what the laws were, and who this person was and that person, and what this community did, etc,...it just makes it easier for you to understand why the new testament could not be made up. and the site for all our community shares is howtoberich.org
have fun
Merry Christmas and
God Bless!

The whole church does an angel tree, and then different groups, like Sunday School classes, sponsor families in need, fire victims, etc. There's some kind of community ministry going on all year round.

We have been running a blanket marathon for about two months now. Women are either making or buying up blankets to hand out at our annual community Christmas dinner. We had sixty-five last time I asked about two weeks ago.

We do dinner once a month at a homeless shelter, we run a food pantry, and we collect items needed at the homeless shelter. This is year round stuff not just for the holidays.

Caroling at rest homes, we just finished a toy drive and we've adopted some Japanese exchange students who will be with us until the first of the year. It's a good trade. One of the Japanese girls is a great pianist...and will be playing "Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring" at our Christmas Even Mass.
