It is the inner calmness promised to the believer who has a thankful attitude based on unwavering confidence that God is able and willing to do what is best for them. Their trust in Him brings about a peace that transcends human intellect, and human analysis. This peace guards, a military term meaning "to keep watch over". God's peace guards the believer from anxiety, fear, and worry because of their trust in Him.

Not merely a psychological state of mind, but an inner tranquillity based on peace with God - the peaceful state of those whose sins are forgiven (John 14:27; Romans 5:1). The opposite of anxiety, it is the tranquillity that comes when the believer commits all his cares to God in prayer and worries about them no more. You hand over to God. You trust God. You leave it with God. You get on with living the Christian life.

It is not possible for humans to even begin to comprehend God's love and compassion, his forgiveness, what he has done for us. We have an inkling (Ephesians 3:18-20).

The peace of God will protect us. Those who are in Christ Jesus know that they have nothing to fear. They are at ease. Which is the opposite of disease.

Sadly, as a sinful human, I still have not learned how to really let go and hand over to God. I keep taking my anxieties and problems back. Silly me. When will I learn? So, I still strive, wish to attain this peace that passeth all understanding. Perhaps it won't happen till I get to heaven. But I do occasionally get a glimpse of it, when I let go and trust God.

I believe that came after verses 4 of Philippians 4 where we are encouraged to worry about nothing but with prayer, supplication( asking humbly and earnestly) and thanksgiving bring your request before God and the Peace of God that passes all Understanding will guard your hearts and mind in Christ Jesus. I guess i can speak from experience there are times i have felt overwhelmed about something and have come before God with it and right after i pray i feel a tremendous peace, i believe it is God's way of letting christains know he hears and he is with them afterall, there is Peace in his presence.cheers

It is that inner calm that comes through oly from the throne of grace after we have believed and accepted Christ unconditionally. That peace makes us rest comfortably even in the stare of hardships and earthly problems and persecution. We are able to do this because we know and trust that we have a God who defends and saves us at all timed

That peace is what you receive once you surrender all to Christ. Surrender everything in your life to Him completely. It's hard for us to do that........to trust that completely. Even when you go through hard and difficult times, you KNOW that God and Christ are with you and that your circumstances will recover in such a way as to see you through.
