i asked a previous question regarding my friend being raped and beaten up by her husband?the thing is the police dont phone her when she has called them to find out about his bail conditions?it took a week to tell her when he was bailed ,when he was going back, and what his conditions were?
i have phoned up on my friends behalf a few times regarding lots of things my friend still has the clothes she ws wearing when she was raped?no ones picked them up yet>a phone recording of her husband attacking and verbally abusing her?
my friend has all my husbands clothes she has phoned to get some one to pick them up as promised but she is told some one will phone her from the police but they dont?
can my friend bin the clothes?will she be commiting a criminal offence if she does?how can i get the police to contact her,i have tried so has my friend?
im just worried about my friend she is in such a state still, and i cant do anything but be there for her.i think the police have acted terribly?

Firstly you should complain to a high ranking officer at the police station, this is totally unacceptable!! it is unfair on your friend and the accused (Although i appreciate that you and your friend wont care about that..) the police are, in this case, being totally unprofessional and are in danger of compromising the evidence as these items have not been kept properly since the attack... i would also complain to the IPCC (Independent police complaints commissioner) I'd also get a solicitor and complain to the Procurator Fiscal (Scotland) or the CPS (England) as this could easily be construed as an attempt to pervert the course of justice..
Hopefully the Police will change the attitude shown to your friend but try not to let you friend get down about this treatment as there are an awful lot of good cops out there who will help her..

For goodness sake keep the clothes. Contact the Professional Standards Department at your local Police Headquarters and explain the situation.

I would call the officer in charge of that station , and the district attorney, Say that you have files a complaint, and noone has interviewed you , or collected the evidence .
Then consult a lawyer
Keep the clothes for now .

she can put her clothes in like a safeway bag as long as there is evidence on em. That is a terrible thing to happen and for no one to do anything! I am sorry for that to happen it is never a good ending but you are a good friend and thats what matters most. just keep doing what ur doing and see if you can't get a hold of the city or state people! go above them! its the only way! go through the state senate or someone! sometimes thats just what you have to do! goodluck.

Make a few phone calls to the local paper, the TV stations and get them involved. Most times the bad publicity will get the police motivated to take some action.

Write to the chief Constable of the police area you are in and explain in the letter how disatisfied you are with the police in dealing with this matter. You should also emphasise that if the police do not investigate this properly, then your next letter will be to your MP to ask him to bring this to the attention of The Home Secretary. Believe me if you do this, the police can't move fast enough to sort it out.

Does she have a solicitor involved?? Otherwise a strongly worded letter to the Chief Constable with a copy to your MP might jolt them. Or contact the Police Complaints Commission.

Just walk into the nearest police station and tell them to do something now! Ask to speak to the station commander and outline that you feel that the action taken so far has been poor, but that they can put matters right by doing the right thing now.

Do not bin clothes, get a solicitor and take advise,it is often free...............See a brief or citizens advise or any number of womens support groups/societies.....................the system is fatally flawed for any victim...............it can be just as flawed for the arrested party too ! He must have a brief, your friend must have one too! Dont waste your time with the plods, get a senior officer to sort this, but get everything documented as well ! Good luck
