I certainly do, as does my mother.
Jeremiah 10
Idols and the True God
1 Hear the word which the LORD speaks to you, O house of Israel.
2 Thus says the LORD:
“ Do not learn the way of the Gentiles;
Do not be dismayed at the signs of heaven,
For the Gentiles are dismayed at them.
3 For the customs of the peoples are futile;
For one cuts a tree from the forest,
The work of the hands of the workman, with the ax.
4 They decorate it with silver and gold;
They fasten it with nails and hammers
So that it will not topple.
5 They are upright, like a palm tree,
And they cannot speak;
They must be carried,
Because they cannot go by themselves.
Do not be afraid of them,
For they cannot do evil,
Nor can they do any good.”

Gift are normally placed under a Christmas tree. The idol of the Christmas tree is material possesions I believe. In today's society, material things have become our idols, and in our strive to become up to gear with material possesions, we have forgotten Yahweh our Lord.

The passage is talking of people making idols, which they often did out of wood and then docorated themselves. It is simply saying the idols are idols and made of wood and Jews should not be afraid of them.
I don't think a Christmas tree would be the interpretation as it was not a custom at the time, it came much much much later. Personally I do see something wrong with idols but I see nothing wrong with Christmas trees. Many of us (Jewish people) consider the cross with Jesus on it, statues of Mary etc etc as idols and therefore stay away from them.

My query for then you definitely is that this. After finding all of this do you utterly fail to remember the suggestion that these involved long ago had some truth? Do you, by stating that the current variation of these texts is ruined, throw away the notion that there's some force more suitable than us which had some interaction or intervention with the previous state of our species? It has been identified for a very long time that the books within the bible are far from the customary writings, the right response to this would be to seek out what was there before and then validate that expertise. To spend so much time discounting what has already been proven inaccurate is a waste of effort and time. The following logical step is not to transfer on to other expertise concerning the subject, but to proper the understanding you might have. So that you can say that another source of understanding which is based on this falsified documentation could be as silly as any other attempt to interpret the details. In any drawback the next move is to change the uncontrolled variables.

No it is talking about carving idols out of trees, but I see how it can sorta relate to a christmas tree being an idol and being adorned with silver and gold. I do think christmas trees should not be in christian homes or anything else that relates to chrostmas for that matter

It's a metaphor for a man. We are all equal trees in the forest. One is cut down, adorned, and worshiped...They hold it up with nails so it will not topple...sounds alot like the story of the crucifixion...Even if this passage was written well before Christ...it's all metaphoric, so a combining of traditions and doctrine is to be expected throughout the years eh? Maybe that's what the Christmas Tree is to remind us of...interesting.

Jeremiah was a prophet to the Jewish people long before Christ was born. Why would God tell Jeremiah to warn the Jewish people about Christmas trees???? It's talking about making wooden idols.

No, but muslims do.
Miss Messianic Jew, I hope you aren't the one who thumbs downed me. I've been confronted with that passage by muslims. That's why I answered the way I did.
And ... The answer that asks you why would God tell the Jews that .... think about that for a minute. If you have one or more active brain cells, that person (ecterbob) gets best answer.

It is not speaking of a Christmas Tree -- but it is definitely speaking of the origins of what we now call a Christmas Tree. The tree is not the god, but a symbol of it. When one person bows down before the tree to place the presents about the foot of the tree they are placing their sacrifices on the alter of their god. When another person bows down before the tree to receive their presents, they are bowing before their god to receive his blessings upon them. Don't deceive yourselves into believing that such worship is about Christ.
I've been a Seventh-day Adventist Christian all of my life. I was raised keeping Christmas, Easter, etc. But no more (as of about five years ago). The Holy Spirit has opened my eyes to the pagan nature of these holidays which were established by the papal system over the last 1700 years. So, instead of the Beast Days (Sunday, Christmas, Easter, etc.), I've gone back to keeping God's Feast Days (Lev. 23).
God bless.

I do not carve my Christmas tree into an idol. I don't carry it. I don't want it to speak, I am not afraid of it. I don't expect it to do good or evil..just look pretty with presents under it.

No. That's talking about woodcarvers creating statues of various gods then encasing them in silver or gold.
A little knowledge of history would be very helpful here!

I can definitely see how you would relate this to a Christmas tree. however, this passage is talking about people making idols outta trees, or those poles that start with "ash" somethin'.
