Protestants never show respect to other religions. At least, why don't they just not care about Muslims, Catholics, or Mormons? I don't think they are even doing their own job as Christians. Is bashing on other religions one of their tenets that make them Protestants or what?

Define tolerance. If you mean respect, then in order to be Biblical Christians, Protestants MUST show love and respect to ALL people, just as Christ did. Jesus did not spend His time fighting prostitution and drunkenness, He hung out with the prostitutes and the drunks. I think Christians need to follow Christ's example when dealing with homosexuality and stuff like that. It's love that makes a difference, not criticism. It's important to note the difference between loving someone and condoning his or her actions.

If by tolerance you mean accepting all other religions as equally true, then that is impossible. Either Jesus is God or He isn't. Either man is sinful or he isn't. True, Biblical Christianity and any other religion are mutually exclusive because Christianity says Jesus is the ONLY way.

I believe that Jesus is my only Lord and Savior, but my response to it must not be to be a jerk toward those around me or I would be denying by my actions the very thing I claim to believe.

Because religion is another form of tribalism. Nothing promotes the "It's us vs. them" mindset better than an intolerant religion. Ever read the Bible? Besides the good stuff people like to quote? It's full of hate and intolerance.

Funnily enough, from my point of view, I think all religions are intolerant to others. Christianity (simply because that's what your question is based on), historically is intolerant, usually to the point of persacution, towards other races, atheists/other religions and homosexuals.

I think the question really being asked is why are religious people so prone to being intolerant to others.

It's not just Protestants. Most Atheists are intolerant. Most Muslims are intolerant. Most Evolutionists are intolerant. Most Catholics are intolerant. etc. Being intolerant is a human condition -- not a religious one.

God bless.

All christians are intolerant of other christians because none of them have a clue of the truth, which is that it is all a total lie and fraud. This is why they can't agree on anything about that story of Jesus. They are too insane to understand that it is all lies, so they make up different version of the fiction, but they can't understand that it is fiction.

They are just doing/saying what they are taught. I'm not Catholic,Mormon, or Muslim but I don't condemn them either. I'm able to agree to disagree.

Looking at History. (Witch Trials, Inquisitions, etc.)
I would say that about the Roman Catholic Church.
