I've never been asked out before and im already 17... (im reeeally shy..) and im worried that when a guy does finally make his move ill be so unprepared that ill just look at him like "OMG!" and he'll change his mind.. So i DO NOT want that to happen. What exactly should i do when a guy asks me out?

I've read some answers and people have given you a hard time because of the question. Maybe they forgot what is was like to be 17. It's nice to hear a question like this when Brit, Paris and Blowhan rule the airwaves.

Just be yourself. Trust your gut. If you are shy that's okay. It's not easy. If you can try getting into a group of friends and before you know it; you'll be going out, but with a group of people, which takes the pressure off and soon enough you will loose the fear and may ask someone out that you like.

If you don't like to socialize and you are asked out, don't feel compelled to give an answer on the spot. The best rule is "silence" let him continue to ask or talk to you so you can learn a bit more about this person. Silence is golden, maintain eye contact so you control the situation. And if you don't like what he is selling--you can say thank you but I'm not ready.

The truth is easy to remember. And speaking for myself I would respect that rather than getting played.

Good question. Stand up for yourself because no one will at the end of the day.

I think you're heart will tell you that...if he's the right guy for you, he should be a gentleman and not put you in an awkward position. If he's someone worth your time you shouldn't have too much trouble saying yes. However, if you feel any sort of caution in your heart telling you this isn't a good guy, don't just fall for him so you can say that you dated for awhile. I speak from experience, it's never a good idea to let your emotions get the best of you. Make sure it's a guy who will treat you right and be loyal to you even if it isn't easy. You deserve the best and should hold a high standard before you let some guy in to mess with your heart and emotions. BE YOURSELF...that's the only way you can know a guy likes you for you!

Usually what happens is you get into a conversation where you start to talk about things going on at your school so he know's what you are interested in. If he says "there is a basketball game coming up" and you say "I would love to see it" then he might ask you out. When you are comfortable with someone, then it won't come as such a shock. People don't ask each other out "cold" like you are anticipating all the time. If you are surprised you might want to say "That sounds great! Let me check my calendar and let you know" Then get his contact info. That will give you a chance to think about it.

First, don't act surprised!
Second, ask yourself if this is someone you know and would want to go out with.
Third, if it is not someone you know or don't want to go out with, then have a polite excuse that will hopefully turn him off to asking again. Something like; thanks but I am very busy right now.

If you find that someone asks and you want to go out with them, simply say; yes, that sounds great. If they are polite, they'll ask what you'd like to do. Don't say a movie, does not give you time to talk and considering the garbage in the theaters, it would be a mistake. If you don't like his suggestion, just suggest something else. Always make sure you have an alternative plan in case something goes wrong (money to call home or for a cab).

If you don't like the guy just say NO! Don't you ever date a guy for just be dating someone! thats sooooo WRONG!! You have plenty of time... I haven't have had a serious relationship until I was 18 and now he's my fiancee. Before him I always said no, because there was no chemistry. Don't waste your time on guys that are totally not worth it.

If you like the guy, say YES! But don't be to easy and never never do anything against your will... If you don't like something just say it... They will respect you for it!

Well if you really like him, say is it ok if I tell you in a little bit, that way you can relax and won't be as nervous. Then the best way to go about a relationship is to act with him like if he was your friend, if you think it's my boyfriend non stop you will always be nervous and it's going to make things unconfortable and weird. So just relax and think about him as your friend, have fun and try to talk like if you guys knew each other for ever. That way if it dosen't work our you will always have a friend

If you like the guy then you should say yes. It doesn't matter if you are very red because he will know that you like him too. If you don't like him or have concerns about going out with him, ask him to have some time to think about it, then you decide whether you want to or not. If you want to, say yes, if you don't want to, say "No i'm sorry i'd rather be friends". ~Hope this helped!
