Plenty of layers of clothing. For example: warmers and sweaters, a heavy coat, gloves and a knit cap, also bring a pair of boots (in case it snows).
Since you can't get winter clothes in Florida, there are plenty of shops in the city where you can buy warm clothing. You can get them from K-Mart, Burlington Coat Factory, Macy's and many other department stores here.
I hope this information was very helpful. Happy Holidays and Happy New Years

If you don´t find it in a local dept store, ask them to order it for you. Most of the places do catalogue ordering as well.
Otherwise, you will go shopping anyway in NYC. So take something warm with you (like an onion, 3 sweaters/sweatshirts one over the otherone) and go to Macy´s, Bloomingdaes or to the closest shop.

You will need a heavy coat, a scarf, warm hat, and gloves! If it snows, you will also need boots.
You can get all these things online at Landsend.com (they're great!) Also, there are so many street vendors selling scarves and hats and gloves in NYC! You can always buy some here as well.

Obviously, you'll need a warm coat or jacket, gloves, and shirts that have long sleeves. Come on, this seems very obvious unless you're under the age of 10.
