There are a WHOLE lot of jobs in the military (every branch) that would severly limit the possibility of someone being on the front lines as a soldier. Even marines have people that fix equipment and see little to no combat. The military is not some huge force of people that go out on killing spree's. And besides that is a horrible miss enterpertation of the old script that read "tho shalt not murder" and there is a big difference between murder and kill. You are allowed to defend yourself and not be a victim.

The correct translation is "thou shalt not murder", not thou shalt not kill. There is an obvious difference in the two. God allowed, and in some cases demanded, the killing of individuals and entire races.

They serve in another capacity. The military has medics, lawyers, human resources, accountants, journalists, and much more.
A yeoman in the Coast Guard is generally not put in a position to kill someone. There are a lot of non-violent options for those who want to serve.

That commandt has be translated out of text-It actually reads according to most scholars "Thou shalt not commit murder". So you deal with it by not committing murder and defending yourself and your fellow mlitary men and not purposefully killing innocent civilians or non-combatants. Not hard for the Amierican military since we routinely try to avoid those things.

you will possibly do greater perfect to verify a bible totally than to locate specific verses which you go with to %. aside. This verse is open to a number of interpretations, yet interior the top, it greater applies to chilly-blooded homicide than self-protection. additionally be conscious that Christianity is predicated plenty greater off the recent testomony, which stresses non-violence (Jesus putting the ear decrease back on between the guards who might later crucify him; Jesus turning the different cheek) plenty better than conflict or violent reaction.
