It is not okay to let kids under 21 to drink anything with alcohol in it. Do you really need to start kids drining that early? Like there is not enough they have to deal with!

Well where I come from (Ireland) the legal age is 18 so by 15 people drink behind there parents back. I started to drink when I was 15 with my friends and my parents found out. I got in a lot of s**t but after a while they let me drink a little when I was with them and the novelty wore off. Kids are starting even younger now, its worrying. I think its a good idea to let kids drink wine coolers occasionally in small amounts cause then drinking isnt as big a deal for them.

This kind of question comes down to personal beliefs. I think that if you are open and honest with teens and teach them how to appreciate alcoholic beverages responsibly then 14 or 15 years old is an OK age to have an occasional alcoholic beverage. There are many cultures that allow teens to drink. I believe you would have much less binge drinking if teens were taught how to be responsible with alcohol instead of forcing them to sneak around and learn from there own mistakes and the mistakes of friends.
My father allowed me to have a beer occasionally while I was growing up and he is a school psychologist.

To begin with, this is obviously illegal. It's illegal to provide alcohol to minors, and as a minor, it's illegal to consume it.

Past that, it seems to create a dangerous expectations for what is appropriate and inappropriate alcohol behavior. Kids 14-15 (heck, even college kids) physically do not have the mental capacity to create many choices. I wouldn't want to open this sort of door to 14/15-year-olds because once you start drinking, even socially, there is no putting the genie back into the bottle.

Actually, Sunday dinners at my Nonna's, once we were teenagers, we were allowed to have a glass of wine with dinner...granted a small glass, but a glass either way.

I don't think wine coolers are a good idea, as that seems like a drink just to catch a "buzz".

I think it's imperative to teach responsibility with alcohol, but 14 and 15 is just too young, in my opinion. Especially if you're talking about on a regular basis (once or twice a month). I think you could let them taste the alcohol, so they aren't left in the dark, but not allow them to freely consume it. It's obviously against the law, so you should use your own discretion.

My 16 yo cousin goes crazy for those Smirnoff Ice wine coolers but his parents only let him take like a sip or two at family functions which happen like once a month.

Of course not, that is alcohol and you would be teaching them a very bad thing; it's ok to drink even though it's against the law.

Very big mistake. A parent is to be responsible and teach teens to stay away from drugs and alcohol, not to go ahead and take them. You can be held financially and morally responsible if something happens while they are drinking.

As long as it has any alcohol in it, you have to be 21 to buy it. This includes hard cider and wine coolers.

Barring all legal situations, I think it's OK. This will teach the kids their limits, so they won't get too drunk in college. Worked great for me.

And at least in my state, it is legal for a kid to drink at home under parental supervision. Look up the drinking laws specific to your state, because it is state-specific--we only like to think it's national because the government pressured states into making 21 their age by offering more highway funding for states who did so. Not sure where I read this, but i hope you find something similar that proves what I just said.

well take it from me
you give it to them or someone else does
when i was 14-15 someone always provided me with alcohol
wouldnt you rather have them drink it with you/in front of you
then with someone else
were dangerous things could happen to them
one drink isnt going to hurt anyone
especially if its only a wine cooler
