Do they create unrealistic expectations of meeting a prince, happily-ever-after? Or are they time-tested stories that teach virtues? Or just fun? What do you think?

Some fairy tales are just fun. Like the mother goose stories, I used to like those a lot when I was younger. But I really don't like the message that stories like Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty or Snow White convey to Little girls. Personally, I feel like it makes girls think that if they wish hard enough, a knight in shining armor is going to come Rescue them and make their lives better.

I would rather teach my daughters to be independent and to make their own dreams come true, instead of relying on a man to do it for them. I think it's OK to tell these stories to kids(boys and girls) but it should also be shown that you are in charge of your life, and only you can make your dreams come true.

Hope this helped. Happy Reading!

The Little Mermaid isn't precisely a fairy tale. it is a cutesy, mythological lively tale that DOES have hindrances and a answer purely like each and every newborn's action picture. something like Hansel & Gretal, whether, i'd evaluate a fairy tale. Frankly, i believe fairy thoughts are good for infants. regardless of the story starts with, be it a mischievous newborn or a grasping kin, there is often a ethical on the tip, or a minimum of a satisfied ending for somebody. Take, for occasion, Cinderella. It teaches infants to be superb to their kin, the underdog comes out on suitable, and provides youthful infants a reason to believe in themselves.

Fairy Tales are excellent for kids because good wins over bad. It is true that sadly this does not always happen in our real world BUT it makes children strive to do well and be the "good guys"

Fairy tales are a way to escape from reality and to spark the imagination. As long as the child doesn't take the wicked step mother seriously. No problem.

I think that getting children interested into bold epics, especially King Arthur, is a good idea. Kids take a lot of interest into Camelot, especially little boys.

Some are good, some are scary as h3ll !!! I remember watching Pinocchio as a kid. I was traumatized by the boys turning into donkeys for quite awhile.

They are fun and amusing firstly. They also teach life but it is essential to make the child understand that they are magic nad they don't reflect reality.

I think they are good for children's creativity and imagination. They are also just plain fun! I wouldn't tell some really scary ones to really young kids though (ie. Hanzel and Gretal)

Kids store the happy bits and make their own little bits up - they're time tested - so don't worry. They're just fun.
