I have a girl cat and she is spayed. The only reason I am pro spaying is because there are way too many kitties sitting at the humane society hoping to get adopted. If by any chance your cat does get pregnant, you'll have to deal with a lot of kitties and getting the proper medical attention when she has them. Like with any surgery there are possible side effects, but vets do this all day long, they really know what they are doing. Cats heal very quickly you'll see her back to normal in no time after she has surgery.

Indoor cats who go in and out of heat without being bred get so frustrated that they start spraying the house. This can take a month or 3 years before it starts, depending on the cat, but they do reach a point where they just start and it's going to be hard to stop them then.
Get her spayed, her hormone surge will be less (and less cancer risk as a result), and she'll be happier.

yes take the risk when she goes out side there is a good chance she might get pregnant and when you do have her spayed keep her inside for a few weeks and let her goo out side but if she gets out check her stitches to make sure they didn't open. Ive had many of my cats spayed a neutered even though they are inside and outside cats

The risks of spay surgery are very, very small. A cat in heat can make some of the most godawful noises you ever heard, that in itself was good motivation for me to have both of myc cats spayed. In addition, spay surgery can help cut down on health problems later in your cat's life.
There is no guarantee that your cat won't get outside, cats can be amazingly clever & can escape through very small openings in doors or windows.

Yes, you do not want the cat going in heat every month. The sound is awful and I imagine it is uncomfortable to the cat. You also do not want the cat spraying urine to mark its territory, spaying and neutering prevent this. And yes, boy and girl cats can both do this. There is a risk with everything we do, but for the safety of you cat go to a reputable vet and get the best care.

Well, by not spaying her she will go in and out of heat cycles monthly....her chances of mammary tumors later in life increase with each heat cycle....chances of pyometra, false pregnancy. Save her and yourself the headache and get her spayed. There is always the chance of an allergic reaction to anesthesia....for people, for dogs and cats, horses ect. By performing screening bloodwork your vet can see any issues caused by problems with liver, kidney and heart. By having a heart monitor on the cat they can check the CO2 gas levels , O2 levels, heart rate and body temperature....by having a veterianry technician there monitoring all the vitals by hand as well as watching trends on the machine it cuts down the chances of something bad happening. Please talk with your vet, check out the Animal Hospital Association of America for vet referrals in your area and talk with them.

Are you serious? you have no reason to let her get pregnant. you are not a cat breeder.. believe me, she will find a way to get to a male once she is in season, sooner or later. it is not worth the risk at any cost.

You should get her fixed. When female cats aren't spayed and don not have sex they can get an infection call pyometra and it could kill them. I did not get my cat fixed and she did get this infection and she had to have an emergency hysterectomy. A little pricey. Get it done!!

No, absolutely get her done, all cats should be desexed regardless of whether they are indoors or outdoors.(Hint - she will come on heat and drive you mad yowling and trying to get out and find toms).
