http://www.petfinder.com has all sorts of listings.
or, you can just go to your shelter, adopt an unwanted dog, and save a life! easy-peasy.

www.petfinder.com has tons of listings and you can specify size and age (you can try for breed, but since most are mixes its hard to tell exactly what they are and what is listed is the shelters best guess). It also finds them by localtion. Keep in mind that the majority of shelters have adoptions fees ranging from $100 to $300 as they usually have no government help in supporting these animals. Also you will probably have to travel to get your dog, I am usually willing to travel about 5 hours or so, keeping in mind that the dog has to make that trip back with you. Good luck!

Lots of luck finding a free one. Even shelters expect some payment for the time and expensive they have put out on an animal. Many times they need extensive medical repair.

You might find one from an individual who has one they can't handle or cannot afford and let you have it. But if it already has behavior problems are you equipped to take on that responsibility.

And a FREE ANIMAL is not free. They are like taking on another child. They need food, shelter, medical care, shots and training. I would say you need to consider volunteering at a shelter or vets office to get your puppy love and not get an animal that you cannot afford.

I just adoped from petfinder.com and it's the best thing I've ever done. The website is easy to navigate and you can pick the size, breed, sex and age of the dog that you want. Check it out. You can try craigslist.org too, my sister got her dog there. Either one, they need a home and you have one to share. Good luck.
