How much DNA would have to be changed for that to occur?

I believe that animals already have souls. People are animals and have souls, I don't see why animals wouldn't have souls either.

Your question assumes that the soul is contained in DNA. And if this is true, the DNA in your dead skin that is shed from your body, or in your hair during a hair cut, in your toenail and fingernail clippings, your semen, your saliva... etc... would all have minute bits of soul -- all "lost" throughout your life. Do you lose bits of your soul in this way?

I find no religious reference to losing bits of one's soul other than certain tribes that believe photography steals bits of one's soul.

Yet, your question assumes some sort of faith or religion given it's reference to soul.

My personal belief is that it would not matter how much DNA is altered becuase I don't personally believe God would embed the soul in DNA which is so easily shed from the body.

But since Science has yet to prove the existance of the soul, (and in fact is in some cases trying to prove that life after death experiences are simple brain function versus a spiritual experience) ... and since we still do not know everything about DNA... there is no definitive answer at this time.

Anyone's answer will be theoretical at best.

I don't beleive animals have a soul and introducing human genetic material will not allow an animal to have a soul. God gave humans a soul not animals.

thrilling thougths, yet i don't comprehend my cat, and neither do i comprehend ants, or sharks, or squids. So going by making use of your concept, then God would not comprehend me, it is somewhat available i assume. I agree, that if there have been a God, then we could no longer start to comprehend the character of that God. How ought to we start to comprehend the character of an all-powerful being? i do no longer even comprehend my own nature particularly some the time, or the folk around me, and that i dont understand why i'm right here or what, precisely, i'm. And why do you think of that animals don't have a spirit? Animals are spirit creatures too.. havent you walked with the aid of a wooded area at night? ;-) each and every of the final, zag

God created souls for humans. Not animals. Animals are simply here to provide food and nourishment for humans.
Sorry, veggans, but its true.

A souls is too complex to be created by any mere man. God alone has the power to create souls.

No.
Dna is just information. The soul is not even a material thing, certainly not encapsulated by dna.

The soul is not of this physical-temporal world, and so cannot be empirically measured. So we would never know if a change had occured.
