Why do most Christians I run into bash other people's religion?

Question

Islam and most other religions say things like:

"You can use Islam to make you a better Christian or whatever"

"You can use Buddhism to make you a better Muslim or whatever"

But when I look on TV or talk to people, they talk about how bad Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was.

There is a verse in the Quran that says: Those who believe in the Quran

And those who follow the Jewish (scriptures)

And the Christians and the Sabians

Any who believe in Allah(God)
And the last day
And work righteousness,
Shall have their reward

With their lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.
Its in the beginning of Section 8
Even when I was beginning to get interested in Islam, they asked me to read and make sure that I really understand it and understand y I would wont to join Islam.

I'm not being prejudice, but I doubt that any Christian will ever say something like this; or maybe there r some who will, its just that most Christians I run into have a prejudice.

Why is this so?

The Christians you run into are undoubtedly Americans, and therefore right off the bat they believe they are better than thou. Also, Christianity believes it is the world religion, such as America believes it is the world police. Christianity seeps into other countries and burns down their morals and reinstates its own. Christians think that if you do not believe in Jesus and the second coming, then you are damned to hell. And they are ignorant to the beliefs of other religions. They don't even know that the Quaran (sp?) actually speaks of Jesus, and he is a big character, just not a prophet. It is all based upon ignorance, and well if ignorance is bliss then being a Chrstian means you live in a ******* paradise.

There are truth in all of the world's relgions, and each of their individual sections. I am a christian and I don't go around bashing other religions. I think that they are interesting and can teach me alot. Regarding your question, people who bash other beliefs are propable insecure about their own. They probably find comfort in "proving" that other religions are fake or incorrect. However, this is probably not true, since nobody can ever hope to understand some one else completely. We cannot see inside each other's heads.

Christianity is completely incompatible with any other religion.
Jesus said 'I am the way the truth and the live, no man comes to the father except through me'

That's pretty black and white. The creator of the universe says belief in Jesus is the only way to be saved.

Obviously that is not a 'nice' message for people to hear if they want to believe in something different.
There are good and bad ways for Christians to convey their message, but ultimately they want everyone else to know about the Good News of Jesus.

Jesus himself did no mince his words and was not afraid to make enemies. Christians are told to tell people about the Gospel not to compromise it with other beliefs.

Sounds like you need to find a different group of Christians. Why do some Muslims think it is Allah's will to kill people. There are stupid people in all religions. Humans in general are rejudiced against anyone or anything different than they are.

I really don't know. I'm Christian, and I would fully support this decision. It's the same God. I think that verse shares my belief.

I guess most people who grew up with Christianity and never questioned it are going to bash other religions.

The majority of people, Christian or not non-Christian, are jerks. You've just run into a lot of jerks that happen to be christian.

Here's a christian who will say right now that positive things can be found in almost any religion.

The creator has given us free will - not brain/mind washed us.
We can choose to be brain washed in any manner and impose upon others to suppress our doubting mind.-because of the free will.
If i go on trying to convert others then my doubts and the free will
will be suppressed. So I can live a conditioned and safe life - in numbers.

If you can figure out why Oral Roberts conned millions out of people by saying God was 'kidnapping' him and they had to pay ransome. If you can figure out why Israel stole Canaan's land and decided to kill the young hiers of Canaan - babes and sucklings. If you can figure out why Muhamad on his death bed sent his followers to indoctrinate the world and kill all who will not convert to Islam. If you can figure out why the Roman Catholic de las Casas declared that Africans were soulless and it would be sinless to enslave them. If you can figure out all that, just like how you know why Pepsi compete with Cocoa Cola then TAH-DAHHH!!!

Any Christian who "bashes" anyone is not following the teaching of JESUS. We are not to bash anyone our job is simply to show the world the love of JESUS. I apologize for any Christian who bashes others. We have a gift to share with the world not the club of our tongue.

The Christians Bible tells them there is only one way to heaven that is through God's only begotten Son Jesus Christ. So we wonder why others are not believing that and wishing they did because the one they call Father is the one who said it.
