They are both as bad as each other,Preston may just have the edge ! In theory they should be equal in their case loads, but some have more court room capacities,ie more rooms................is this as a witness or victim or defendant ?.........Try not to worry if your anything but the defendant ! bare in mind that no system is perfect, but crown is far fairer than Magistrates as they are police courts and biased and also the magistrates are usually jumped up muppetts with no "real" worldly experiences.........Jurys can present problems in crown courts as they are generally made up of people who do not want to be there and assume the guilt of the person in the dock..............do not get confrontational with the prosecution council either.........do not let your barrister bully you into pleading guilty either ! The Judge/recorders are usually human but can sometimes want the case over asap to go watch cricket/football/rugby/tennis etc,so if they set you a date round about a final of any major sports event then try to be ill (the jurors are likely to want to get home too)

The highese crown court is the central criminal court in London. I do not know Preston or Burnley, but there are other courts with special security measures where the nature of the crime merits it. Some cases require certain types of judge and not all crown court centres have them.
