The answer above about a surfeit of firies is crap. There are problems in most Australian states in recruiting them; much like any uniformed service has currently.
The real problem you'll face is the control that the union (UFU) have in protecting their own service conditions, by making it hard for any qualified firie to get a job (with due recognition of experience and quals) with any piss-weak state government in Oz. You'd probably be better off to be a one eyed lesbian single mother from Iraq, as it would help with their 'equity and diversity' quotas. Never mind that state governments should be recruiting the best they can for their communities.
Not only that, but the fire authorities (i.e. UFU) are so parochial that they actually believe that they are 'state of the art' when it comes to fire fighting.
Unfortunately this sort of thing applies across the board in Oz, in all sorts of work.
To anyone that thinks I'm joking; do your own research. As I have.

That is a tough one, the countries that you desire to emigrate to will have sufficient numbers of firefighters, the question is wether your job is in demand due to shortage of local labour, best way to find out is go to Immigration department of the respective Embassy or the web site of any of the countries of interest and see what demand there is for your job. I know that Canada has a points system for employment, if you score sufficent points there, then you can go for an interview in London at the Canadian Embassy. Good luck.
