she is 10 yrs and just a few weeks ago it started. She stiffens up and shakes like mad and froths at her mouth sounds like she choking. I just pet her and eventually she calms down, she seems delirious after, and she pants like shes trying to catch her breath. Is it an old age thing? or a pit bull thing? It scares me so much, I don't want to lose my baby.

I got her when I could afford to have her 10 yrs ago, life has changed and I love her to much to give her up. I only say this becuz of the heartless comments I may get from those who don't understand why I hava pet and no $ nearly homeless...

I have called every vet in Vegas and none do payments, does anyone have any info on what I can do?

It is actually rather common for dogs to have seizures. One of our dogs had seizures for years. The worst part of it is probably how scary it is for both you and the dog. It sounds like you are doing the right thing - comfort her and keep her quiet afterwards.

A previous poster's suggestion to contact a humane society is a good one. They may be able to help you. Best of luck to both of you.

I'm not sure what the situation is in the US but in the UK there is a charity which provides very cheap, almost free care to pets whose owners are on state benefits. If you ring your local rescue center they may be able to tell you if there are any such organizations over there.

I fully understand how circumstances can change and hope you and your dog can find the help you need in order to stay together.

Our good buddies had a pit who had epilepsy. She did not initiate having seizures till her first warmth and that they placed her on the meds for this, yet she would have 2-3 a 12 months. they actually resuscitated her as quickly as at abode. They ultimately positioned her to sleep, they have been getting extra generic and too painful. it might take her days to get lower back into the swing of issues. The meds oftentimes do artwork from what I comprehend, we predict of she became into the exception to the rule. i'm so sorry to take heed to this we want you the better of luck to you and your doggy.

This could be a sign of heart worms or another underlying health problem. I know it's hard, especially this time of year, but you really need to get the money together and bring her to the vet. Also, call around to rescues and shelters and explain your story, they may be willing to help!

I hope you are able to figure something out and get your baby to feeling better!

Good Luck and Merry Christmas!

well if it was your child you would do whatever to get the money...like the one said a pawn shop...my dog had the same problem...took her to vet that did take payments after a low down payment and we got the seizures under control with meds that ran me roughly $20.00 a month..which it fell that low on price because back 5 yrs ago I did have financial issues and they worked with me...I didn't call around places...people have more heart when they see you and your pet...and can see that you are desperate for help

If you love her as much as you say you do, you'd give her up so she should get proper medical care.

A friend of mine got a dog from some heartless people who didn't want their dog because he had seizures, and they left it untreated.

He recently died from a BAD seizure - and it was devastating.

So please, do the right thing and find a Rescue near you and see if they can take your pup.

Good luck

If you have access to the internet (library), search nearby shelters or free animal clinics who will take a look at your dog. Your dog's behavior may be due to old age, but better be safe than sry!

good luck hun!

Call the local ASPCA. They have excellent vets and possibly can help you since you obviously love your girl and want her to have treatment. Beg or grovel and get her some help.

Cut your internet service off and pawn your computer. That should give you more than enough to cover a vet visit.
