My back door opens left to right. It flew open while driving down the road. It swung so hard, the door is totally off & will not close all the way!! Is that something that auto ins will cover?

If you have comprehensive auto insurance coverage, the insurance company will cover it after what ever deductable you have. It will NOT be covered if all you have is liability insurance. Read your policy, and it will tell you if you have comprehensive coverage.

(ie, if you have comprehensive coverage and you have a $250 deductable, and the cost to fix it is $1000, you will pay the $250 deductable and they will pay the remaining $750, if you have a $1000 deductable, then don't bother reporting it because it will cost you $1000 either way.)

This of course will only occur if you have comprehensive coverage. It depends if you purchased comprehensive coverage. Did you?

Correction... it would be covered if you have _collision_ coverage. This is _not_ a comprehensive claim. There are 7 named perils which are considered comprehensive... this is not one of them. Despite what some adjusters might think, the vehicle can collide with itself.

it might if you have full coverage ,other wise liability or comp, wont cover it,you can call them and ask ,i know comp wont cover this because i have comp on one of my vehicles and the door came open and screwed the hinge up and they wouldn't cover it,but id call to be sure, good luck.,,PS they told me that because it wasn't theft or vandalism and i was in at at the time it wouldn't cover it,that's going to depend on your insurance company though, good luck.
