concerned about the closet terrorism going on? We are allowing our poor and the children of the poor to be terrorized by not giving them affordable access to organic foods. Why does this not concern and alarm people?

by poor I do not mean homeless living in a box or shelter...I mean lower income people who work hard but wages aren't high and they struggle living paycheck to paycheck.

Sway_27 first of all not everyone who is poor is eligible for food stamps. Therefore you are not giving them anything. And second of all not every store accepts food stamps as legal tender. i.e. wholefoods.

That is just and ignorant comment; ignorant because you do not understand the system and how things really work.
People are always saying how unhealthy America is but why doesn't anyone do something about it.

This is not terrorism, this is your elitism. The free market will provide what people want! If someone wants "organic" food, they can buy it. If it is important enough to them, they will find a way. They can work two jobs if they want!

I can afford organic food, if for some reason I wanted it! It is not something that is important to me!!

I work hard for my money and have made choices in life that there were certain things that I could not justify spending my money on! For example, I do not have cable TV. I could get it if I wanted, it is not a issue of affording it, it is an issue of value! The cost is more than I am willing to pay!

I drive an older car. I could go to the dealership today and buy a brand new vehicle, but again, it is not valuable to me!

You put a high value on "organic" food. You seem to think that because it costs more, we should subsidize certain people's purchase of said food! I have a real problem with that. What you want to do is take money from the hard working taxpayers, and give it to people who have made choices that have made them less successful! Rather than encouraging those people to improve themselves through hard work, you want to give then something for nothing!

When you start to punish hard work, and reward falure, you take away the incentive to work hard. If I was going to get the same thing as everyone else, no matter how hard I worked, I would not work hard!! With no reward for my effort, there is no reason to do more than the minimum!!

Socalism has failed everywhere it has been tried!

It does concern some people but unfortunately people want to make excuses and blame people for their misfortunes.
It is sad that healthy food is not affordable to many people. A lot of the answers responded that people choose to eat unhealthy food. I am sure this is true in some cases but in many cases people have to decide over purchasing healthy food or other necessities. I actually agree with you saying people are being terrorized by this because having healthy food is a basic necessity.

Why is organic so damn expensive- is that your point?
I can barely afford it- but I do without many things to eat good food and I cut back on what I eat.
I think if there were more community gardens where everyone pitched in and tilled the soil, planted the seed, weeded and watered and harvested it would be just as healthy.

Because the government doesnt care about people of the lower class people. Its alarming alright. The lower class people are just trash in the gov..eyes..just push em aside like yesterday's newspaper. They know they are in the wrong but they just tend to see after those wealthier..than about lower class..That's the way its always been.

I agree with you I once lived out on the streets and it was someone who cared about me that got me off the streets and to this day even though I can't afford it all the time I help out the homeless and pass on to others what was passed on to me.

They should form a co-op and grow their own foods. Organics are too expensive for even lower and middle income families to eat regularly.
