well im getting a ps3 for christmas and the best you could do is just keep it in one place. like on a tv stand. thats what im gonna do. you could keep it in the foam padding it comes with.

I don't like to answer questions with poor grammar, and yours is horrible, but I will anyway. One of PS3s Pros are that its very reliable. It doesn't overheat like 360 so theres no need for a external cooler/fan. All you gotta do is make your you have 2-3" of space behind it so that the hot air can be blown out properly. Other than that theres not much you gotta do, just don't keep it on all the time, don't flip the switch on the back too often (keep it on standby) and keep your controllers charged. Also DO NOT MOVE THE PS3 WHILE A DISK IS PLAYING, this can and will scratch the disk! As a side note, get a Component or HDMI cable so you can get the best picture, and don't forget to pick up Call of Duty 4!

Well if you wanna keep scratches of it get some displex which removes scratches easily off a PS3 which you can find on ebay and make sure your PS3 is in a well ventilated area and dont be lazy people clean your systems cuz thats one of the things that can make your PS3 or any game system malfunction just popping games in and out.

This is very important. When it says don't turn the PS3 off while it's upgrading or updating, Sony isn't kidding. Don't turn the PS3 off.

Don't put it near areas where it can get lots of moisture.

Keep the PS3 on an open shelf.

The PS3 has only a .02% failure rate, so you're pretty safe.

Don't set it on the carpet, keep it out of the entertainment center, it needs alot of venting space. ( get a marble tile sample to set it on if you have carpet.) Don't set it near a heat vent, that will blow dust and moisture into the system. And DO HAVE FUN ...We have had ours since release and it has been runnning 24 hours a day since march with no problems. When we are not gaming etc... we run the folding@home program for standford university on it to find a cure for cancer and other diseases..

DO NOT buy an INTERCOOLER..

Great answers above, I can add, that when it's off, cover it with cloth (not plastic - it increases humidity), it has to have at least 10cm gap with walls for proper ventilation. Put it on steady surface. If power current isn't stable at your place (shutdowns, power jumps) - get a stabilizer.
