Yes, apparently #1 is right, depends on your insurance company, location, where its stored, full/liability coverage, age, driving record. I'm 32 and have the Hyunda Azera with full coverage and pay only $1000 a year. Quotes can range pretty wide, so don't assume your current company has the best rate. I had my GSXR750 covered through Progressive for $700 a year, but when I switched to a Ninja ZX-6R they wanted $1900, got a quote from Geico for $550 a year for the same full coverage.
Overall though, an Accent should be about the lowest cost car to insure since its low power and prestige.

depends on where you live and what your driving record is. my daughter owns a 04 accent, lives in jersey, has a few tickets and pays almost $6,000 a year for full coverage. she is 28. she also was in an accident.

Ok the type of car really doesnt affect the cost of insurance
UNLESS...
you get a muscle car eg. camaro, mustang, evolution, etc. something with horsepower.
pretty much his driving record, age and what company he goes with will affect it any

I depends on his driving record and years of experience, not necessarily the car.
