Sorry Kimbo, I don't agree that animal cruelty can contribute to global warming, and I surely don't agree with some of the vegans that posted answers to your question.

If you don't want to eat meat, that's fine. You're probably also right that alot of animals that are raised are treated cruelly. But in doing so doesn't cause global warming. The same trucks that spew out all that CO2 delivering meat to stores would just be used to deliver more vegetables if no one ate meat in this country. The same with using up a lot of water recources, it's just not true.

Your first premise that there is a problem with global warming is incorrect. Just because we have not been around long enough to remember such cycles in our lifespans or even the brief amount of time we've been keeping track of such things, doesn't mean it hasn't happened before. If it is not a problem, then eat what you want. You need to check out other websites that don't have a global warming agenda and that actually use current science, not science that has already been disproved.

Animal cruelty has absolutely nothing to do with global warming. The person who told you that obviously did not know what they were talking about.

It's not the #1 reason, but Im pretty sure it has something to do with cutting down trees to put out cows to pasture, cows destroy the land they walk on and the soil is pretty much useless after they leave their mark...animal cruelty is it's own stressful headache but isnt a cause for concern when it comes to the enviornment, unless your talking about..the kind of people who skin animals alive also not caring about what happens to the world then yeah it does.

Dearest one,

Your heart is in the right place,

but,

Have you been hanging out with Amy Winehouse?

I am going to change my attitude towards this question
and say that after some study on the internet that YES,
there does seem to be a direct and indirect contribution because of animal cruelty.

Sorry for being such a wise-*** on my first reply.

Animal cruelty is a sad fact of this world but it is not at all related in any way to Climatic changes ,

but Climatic changes do affect animals, such as invisible changes are at micro biotic levels ,

this causes species to become extinct ,whilst others are multiplying ,

This affects the insect populations that follow ,and changes in that ,affect all that follows in the food chains ,

All life is interrelated of both flora and fauna,

Your thesis is flawed, if we fix that, the answer becomes self evident. There is no such thing as man-made Global Warming, therefore there is no number one cause. You are being duped by lawyers and politicians who want your rights and money.

Here is more for future reference

1.Caring for the enviroment-
America's meat eating habits are bad.Half of the water used in the U.S. is used for animal agriculture. Our topsoil is damaged by raising animals for food,we only have about 6 inches of topsoil left,it takes 500 years for 1 inch of topsoil to be created.Every year in the US an area the size of Connecticut is lost to topsoil erosion--85% of this erosion is associated with livestock production.
.Animals create a huge amount of waste,a population of 60,000 pigs creates the same amount of waste as a group of 240,000 people, and our poop is flushed and filtered so the water can be used again, animals' waste is put into a manure lagoon or a small amount can be put back into soil, but most of it builds up.Think about what I said before 60,000 pigs=240,000 people and now think of the 10 billion animals raised for food each year.Imagine the waste created. The number of farm animals on earth has risen fivefold since 1950: humans are now outnumbered three to one. Livestock already consume half the world's grain, and their numbers are still growing almost exponentially. This is why biotechnology - whose promoters claim that it will feed the world - has been deployed to produce not food but feed: it allows farmers to switch from grains which keep people alive to the production of more lucrative crops for livestock. Within as little as 10 years, the world will be faced with a choice: arable farming either continues to feed the world's animals or it continues to feed the world's people. It cannot do both.
