You will have to sign up for the HD channels on cable. They don't come automatically. For me it's an extra $5 a month to get the HD channels.

Not every show is created as HD, so if displayed on the HD channel, it shows up as a normal 4:3 aspect with black bars on the sides.

You should have settings on your TV to stretch the picture or zoom in to get rid of them. Personally I find the stretch far more annoying that the black bars. The black bars are quickly ignored while the stretched people is very annoying.

You'll have to contact your local cable company or check their web site to see exactly what channels they carry in HD.

Yes, you'll need a player to play blu-ray. Sony PS3's will do it if you are looking at game machines. I'm not sure but I believe Xbox 360 plays the opposing standard of HD-DVD, but I could be wrong on this one. I know it doesn't play blu-ray though.

Then make constructive you have the cable field HDMI output set as much as 1080i, sixteen:9, and your television set to sixteen:9. in case you have the two a coax and an HDMI going into the television, that must be inflicting the undertaking. in basic terms use HDMI. and frequently, with Samsung tvs, element (crimson/eco-friendly/blue) paintings extra desirable than HDMI.

you can get HD for cable. But I do not think it's worth your money... Sometime in Feb '09 There will not be any reguler cable. It will be all digital. No more analog cable.
