Because Japanese are very smart people

2007-12-16 06:58:57 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 3 2

Because the Chinese have not had a great deal of exposure to the virus of faith , they have lower resistance to Christianity when exposed to it and so covert more easily. The Japanese have always had their Buddhism and Shinto traditions which are part of their everyday life and not something to do only on a Sunday Between 10:30am and 12:30pm .

The Chinese think is it good to mimic the west as a way to improve themselves and associate Christianity with Blue Jeans and wealth , whereas some Japanese men would not share an elevator with a westerner , especially if he looked wealthy was wearing blue jeans and was a Christian .

The Japanese tend to be a little bit more secular / enlightened than the Chinese and are not easily persuaded by bronze age myths , their Buddhism is more of a philosophy than a religion and has prepared them better to see falsehoods.

One of the reasons I like to travel in China is because of the absence of Christianity Islam and Judaism. I do enjoy visiting the temples in China and every local friend who goes with me always has a little prayer , but never tries to preach to me or even ask what my religion is , is it so relaxing not to have Christianity shoved in your face .

My sources come from my regular trips to China , My 2nd wife who was a Buddhist from Taiwan and my 3rd wife who was Chinese and unfortunately became a Christian. Maybe I should try and marry a Muslim next and see how that goes !

Well in Japan they pray to people like Buddah, or Kami (meaning protector of the Earth) The Japanese have done so since before the Feudal Warring States during the years of
668 - 825. Chinese have basicly combined with America with trades and other goods. So the religions of Each other countries have been taken back and forth during trades. That is why there are more Chinese temples being built today because Budahism has been brought over here and Christianity and Catholicism, etc... over there.

why are you comparing Japanese and Chinese people like their the same? if you look at the world map you can see that the British and the Chinese live right next to each other. therefore they are closer to spreading the word first. and the Japanese never asked to be invaded if you paid attention in history. also they believe in keeping their traditions. but most of the immigrant Japanese may have converted. hope this helps.

The Japanese already have Buddhism and Shinto. They are proud of their tradition. In Chinese, religions have been suppressed for sometime. Most Chinese are atheists. Some people do need a religion. Christians are still a small percentage in China.

There's that whole culture of saving face in Japan; never looking wrong. That encourages everyone into self-reliance, and a great fear of ever admitting faults. Then the gospel has a strong emphasis on admitting you are wrong, when you are, and confessing it to God and being forgiven. Christian faith begins with admitting you are not right in the sight of a Holy God; God's love is there of course, but one has to admit one hasn't been perfect.

There are some christians in Japan - 1 or 2 million I think. Mainly catholic, as Jesuit missionaries were the only ones allowed in the country during the Shogunate period.

South Korea is in part now a very christian country (40-50% I think) because Buddhism and Taoism were discredited to a degree because of the appalling way Japan treated Korea and China in the run-up to and during World War 2. Of course there are other reasons to do with prayer etc.

Why do idiots generalize about people? The Japanese people have had a very interesting history, they are very Nationalistic by virtue of schooling and government, and they want to preserve their heritage and culture by maintaining Buddhism and Shinto. Although Buddhism is an imported religion, it compliments Shinto. Shinto deals with the here and now, and Buddhism deals with the afterlife in Japanese culture.

There are many Japanese who profess to be Christians, as well as Koreans, Chinese, Thais and all the rest.

Every country in the world has people who profess to be Christians.

In some countries like North Korea for instance and in former Communist countries such as China people had to keep it to themselves or tell very few for fear of being persecuted for their beliefs.

No one refuses to be Christian not in modern times. It is not like in the olden days when you either professed belief in Christ or you were dispatched with the sword, guillotine, arrow, drowned, burned or hung alive.

We now do it in a more humanitarian way, we just think they are lost and that they are going to hell.

Are you asking what's the difference between Chinese and Japanese people? Are you implying that all Asians are culturally the same? This is a very ignorant question, my friend.

The difference lies in the fact that Japanese and Chinese are different races from different cultures. I have visited both and speak from experience.

Perhaps since China is a communist country and religion is frowned upon by the state, then it becomes a sort of forbidden fruit when it is offered to them (as a form of hope that they may not have in life?). In Japan there are people who are already Buddhist or some other religion. They already have forms of religion. So it is not a forbidden fruit, it is a choice of which one or none...
