I'm homosexual but have made the decision to abstain from all homosexual activity due to my knowledge that it is wrong. As far as I can tell, myself being gay is the same as myself being an alcoholic.

Because they made the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man. So God handed them over to perverse lusts.

It is not good or bad, just like being straight is not good or bad, you just either are or you are not. It is good if you are with the right person who loves you and cares about you, and it is bad if you are with someone who treats you badly and hurts you.

And being an alcoholic is an addiction which leads to death due to very real physical reasons, such as your liver stopping to function. Also being an alcoholic you will not be able to keep a good job and be a useful citizen in any way.

Being gay is not an addiction, and it is not bad for your health in any way, unless of course you go sleeping around unprotected, but then it doesn't matter if you are gay or straight, it is wrong and might give you STD's from which you might die.

God just wants you to be happy with one person, one person who is your soulmate and who would love you for who you are.

The only examples in the Bible (since this is asked in the R&S section) of homosexual activity are either rape, married people cheating on their spouses or orgies. The example given in the book of Leviticus is not applicable for today's society, because one it is in the OT and two it is a list of rules given to the people of Israel in order to keep them seperate from the cultures around them. Almost none of those rules are followed today, such as not touching or sleeping in the same bed with a woman who is on her period, eating meet that still has blood in it or wearing clothes made from mixed fabric, but you don't see priests preaching against that, do you?

Homosexuality is not a choice either, and I find it very funny when people who have no idea claim that it is. I mean how exactly does this process of choosing one's sexuality work? You just wake up one morning and go "Hmm, I think I would like to be descriminated against all my life, I want my family to hate me, and yes don't forget all the hate crimes that will be commited against me, yep sounds great, I will go gay!" This is absurd. No one chooses their sexuality, you just know what feels natural to you and what doesn't from the first moment you feel attraction.

Don't do that to yourself. That's my advice, but up to you...though I think you are punishing yourself for something that a)isnt your fauly b)isn't anyhting wrong.
Really, I think you are scared and afraid because of what you have been told by society.

Seriously who's it hurting? If you do that not only are you denying yourself love, but someone else.

In greek times homosexuality was revered as the norm, or even the ideal.
Heracles and Iolus were worshiped at the same alter (very unusual for two deities to have the same alter) and honoured becaue of their love.

dont let the christians pull you into thier dogma,

if you were born gay, then obviously god made you that way for a reason.

alcoholism is an addiction that you can only get from drinking at least once. being gay is NOT an addiction.

therefore those two things are verry different, dont let them tell you that this is your cross to bear. they just need someone to **** with.

make your own life and your own choices

Being gay and being an alcoholic is not even close to being the same thing.

It's as good as heterosexuality if that's how you are.

I can't begin to understand why people care what other consenting adults do.

If something is against their religion then they shouldn't do it but why do they insist that everyone else follow along too?

2007-12-16 07:05:00 · answer #6 · answered by t_rex_is_mad 6 · 0 1

why wouldn't it be good

why on earth would a god be interested in what consenting adults get up to?

What a petty minded diety you worship.

You must be a deeply unhappy person

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

For ye practice your lusts on men in preference to women: ye are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds."
Other verse
Would ye really approach men in your lusts rather than women? Nay, ye are a people (grossly) ignorant!
Other verses
Those who love (to see) scandal published broadcast among the Believers, will have a grievous Penalty in this life and in the Hereafter: Allah knows, and ye know not.

It's neither good nor bad...it's just how some people are. Why are so many so interested in others' sexual proclivities? Is it because you're such a prude you aren't getting any, so have to live vicariously through the adventures of people who have real lives?

It's not good or bad. What two concenting adults do is their business and no one elses. There are a lot of major issues to fret about, homosexuality is not one of them. I am not one but I know people who are and I would rather have them for friends that a lot of so called straight folks. It is what is in their hearts and how they treat others that count.

It's not "good" it's just a life style style which is only good or bad in the eye of beholder; especially since it harms no one or does nothing aginst another's free will.
