My daughter is turning 2 in 2 weeks, a few days after Christmas. We just moved across the country and don't know many people, just a few neighbors but not well enough to ensure they would show up for a party if invited. It would at least be mom, dad, bday girl, and 6 year old son. I really want to do something special for her that she'd enjoy, but all I can think of is Chuck E Cheese. Plus, my house is furniture-less, so even if we did have guests, I'd want to do this somewhere else (indoors only). I have a $100-$200 budget. Any ideas? Thanks!

A tiara is a nice idea. I think she's a little too young for build-a-bear, though a good idea too. We live in the Sacramento area, so no snow. Plus, we alway go to McDonald's playplace, so that wouldn't be special. Thanks anyway. Anyone else?

I second the McDonald's with the playplace idea and build-a-bear too. they would both be good. YMCA also does fun parties. Is your daughter in preschool or daycare? you could get together with a few classmates. if she is only two just playing with mom, dad, and her big brother right in your own house with cake and presents would probably be a party enough. you could take her to a local pool and go swimming as a family. Once we did a family campout where we all slept in sleeping bags in our living room. We made marshmellows and played with flashlights, my guys loved it. Remember, at two parties are more for the parents then they are for the children, the kids won't remember and even something quick and easy can be very exciting for them. good luck! Happy birthday to your daughter! :)

How about a science center, museum, or aquarium? She might still be too young to enjoy the majority of things at those places, but at 2 she's not going to want to spend all day walking around them anyways. Take the family for a nice outing, then find a table to sing happy birthday, unwrap presents, and have cake.

Chuck E Cheese is fine, she probably would not notice no one else came because she will have a lot of fun.At 2 she won't remember very much, so you could just go to lunch somewhere you don't go very often.
