In my language when someone is too angry and ready to fight we say he ''needs a spark to explode'', what's this in English?

Things like ''fly off the handle or go off at the deep end'' are said when someone suddenly gets angry, what I meant was before a person shows his anger, the last thing that makes the person burst into flames.

Several come to mind. I use "ready to blow his top" or "he's a ticking bomb ready to explode." A sad one is if you are "about to go postal" which refers to a brief history of several post office employees "flying off the handle" and shooting up their workplaces. So there's a few to choose from.

In Brit Eng, "he's ready to explode" is common.
